Good morning eveyone.

It's been very windy and heavy rain all night.

I could hear the slates on the roof lifting, which was scary, so I stayed downstairs and haven't slept a wink.

According to the weather forecast we have at least another couple of days of strong winds and heavy rain predicted. I hate to think what state my roof will be in afterwards, and I can see my greenhouse has been damaged.

Yogi19

My goodness that sounds alarming Yogi, I didn't know that it's normal for tiles to lift in high winds I hope the wind settles down and doesn't go on as long as predicted and that your greenhouse is not too badly damaged. Will you be able to have a nap today to make up your sleep, otherwise you're going to be exhausted.

Enjoy your day everyone

squiggle

Hi to El, Squiggle, Summer and Moonie.

From what I can see from the ground, we do have a couple of slates which have moved. It will be too dark by the time hubby gets home for him to do anything tonight, but hopefully (if it's not too windy) he and sons can do something about it tomorrow.

Summer, I'm glad you managed to get some rest last night. Hopefully your cough is on the wane.

Mr Yogi isn't too keen on going up ladders either. My bet is that one of our sons will fix the slates, while hubby holds the ladders.

That could have been very dodgy.

It was and there was no-one with him to hold the ladder. He did move the ladder to make it safer.

Well thank goodness for that, silly man.  Yogi will it be safe for hubby and sons to go onto the roof if the wind is still going to be high?  I am glad you are OK moonie, I know life isn't easy for you

The wind blew out a large front panel near the greenhouse door and a large back panel directly behind it.

They won't go up unless the wind has subsided - I wouldn't let them.

That must be horrible for you. I don't have a problem with heights, just enclosed spaces.

Yogi19

The alternative to escalators and lifts - the paternoster:

probably not suitable for those who suffer from bad vertigo or enclosed spaces

Although I have not been on the one shown in the clip, many many years ago I did go on one which was in a department store somewhere (too long ago to remember where). I didn't know then that the cubicle didn't turn over at the top.

I won't go up in a small lift on my own

You wouldn't get me in one of those, I'd need to take the stairs!
