I'm the independent examiner of the annual accounts and I'm aware that in the last year the church has received a loan for the new lighting. My reading of the rules is that the loan is part of the gross income for 2014 as the treasurer does the accounts on a cash basis. That will mean that the gross income goes over the ÂĢ100k level.

Although charities in this position can apply to the Commissioners for permision not to register where it's a one off I don't think that will work in our case. If the normal gross income was under ÂĢ80k a year the Commissioners would probably give permission but our gross income is typically around ÂĢ95k so too close.

If the treasurer were to do accounts on an accruals basis the loan would then not be included in the gross income. But the work required to do accounts on an accruals basis is a lot more than when done on a cash basis.

Also the exception to having to register is a temporary measure and is due to expire in March 2021. I also think it likely that the gross income will in any case sooner or later go over the ÂĢ100k level.

So when I see the treasurer next, I'm going to have to drop a small bombshell.

Oh dear! Do you think it will be a big issue for the church, El?

I hope they get it sorted out.

I'm glad they are taking your advice.

Thanks for the reminder, I love Foyle's War. I've set a series record on the V+ box.

Yes I've set the series link too.  I am glad you were able to monitor the situation and keep your church up to date so they don't fall foul of that threshold EL.

Soon the daffs will be out and then the house will feel brighter Yogi.  I'm fed up with the dark mornings, trying to put my toothbrush back on the stand this morning was ridiculous I had to do it by touch.

When I'm going to church I suppose I get up a bit earlier EL and since I never pull my curtains I try to manage in the morning without putting on a light except in the bathroom and as there is no electric plug in the bathroom I plug my toothbrush in in the hall with an adapter plug.  Most mornings it's not a problem but this morning was terribly dark.

I planted lots of bulbs in the autumn, so hopefully they will all bloom in the spring. I love spring flowers.

Squiggle, I always draw my curtains as there's a street light opposite my house. I don't have an electric socket in my bathroom either (I think that's standard to stop people putting an electic fire in there and deciding to drop it in the bath). I therefore keep my electic toothbrush in my bedroom and take it to the bathroom when I use it.

It must be one of the oldest recipes in the world as it's 3700 years old and is Babylonian.

The original recipe included tulip bulbs but that's been changed here as tulip bulbs are poisonous.

I'd rather look at tulips in the garden than eat them!

The pic of the finished pie looked quite nice.

Squiggle, that's right- I'll focus on pancake day and all things spring time

Yogi, I hope you're not feeling too sad

Big hug for Summer. It all looks so bare now, doesn't it?

I'm getting used to the bare look now, Summer.
