I've just been outside to fill up the bird feeders and skim some leaves off the pond and I was glad to get back inside, it is cold out there.  The sun is on the other side of the valley, it will hit our side later, so there is still lots of frost lying about.  Luckily the grass near the bird feeders had thawed as I believe it damages the grass if you walk on it while it is frosty.

Squiggle, you are right. Walking on frosty grass damages the leaves so best to avoid it if you can. It is cold here as well, forecast maximum today is 2.

The frost on the grass and cars never thawed throughout the day. My heating has been on all day, it is Baltic up here! Brrrrr!

Any thoughts for the new year?

Good morning everyone, no trace of frost this morning but still cold. As I haven't started the car for a few days I think I will nip up and turn the engine over this morning.  For the first time yesterday the fish in the pond were really sluggish so it must have been very cold.  I shan't feed them for a couple of days now as their systems can't handle food when it's too cold, as they are cold blooded.  It should be frog time in the pond soon, I wonder what the fish will make of that

Just been on the phone to British Gas, and its been an experience i can tell you. Got a letter saying my direct debit been cancelled, which it hasnt. Its one of those systems whereby you have to speak your name, which i did, again and again. Then was asked to spell it, then say again and again. It still didnt pick it up  I shall phone again later, after i have banged my head against the wall

lol Skylark, your Scottish Gas call reminded me of a funny clip I saw some time ago. It was a Scottish guy stuck in a lift which had a voice automated system and he couldn't get it to understand what he was saying.

Sorry I didn't get back here yesterday. Work was hectic and I started feeling unwell so I came home to have a nice hot bath and a good rest.
