Speculation on the BBC news today about who and where the first woman bishop in the C of E will be. The Southwell & Nottingham diocese is the first which could, and then Gloucester. My aunt, the nun, lives in Southwell very near the cathedral.

One of the women mentioned is Vivienne Faull. She became a chaplain at Gloucester cathedral in 1990 and was one of the first women to be ordained as a priest in 1994. I was at that service and I have met her when she came to our church. She's now the Dean of York.

It would not be surprising if she was one of those interviewed for the position at Gloucester. It will be quite some time before any announcement is made. Interviews early January, annoucement around Easter.

Whoever is selected will be because they are the right person. It would be wrong to rush to become the first diocese to appoint a woman bishop.

Squiggle, I can't see my picture either now and I get the same message as you do when I click on the link. So it's something to do with the site storing the picture.

It was of an attractive picture called "Streaky Red Sky at Sunset - Dusk Sky Wallpaper". If you do a Google image search on that it's the only result.

I've just had someone knocking on the door saying he was from the British Heart Foundation and was talking about a type of which which can mend its heart.

I had heard of this before and told him but I wasn't going to start signing up to give money as I give quite a lot of money to charities as it is.

This is what it would be about - it's a zebra fish and the ad is 3 years old:

I thought the 3D portraits a little creepy, perhaps it's just me.

A worthy cause The British Heart Foundation EL but I agree it's a big commitment taking out a direct debit.  A little girl I have been sponsoring has just graduated so my direct debit for that will come to an end.  I am thinking, when I can, of supporting Well Found which provides clean water to people in Africa.  It was started by a millionaire so he ensures that every penny that people give goes straight to provide the wells, he takes care of expenses.
