Good morning everyone

Weather is dry atm, but there is a dampness in the air.

Summer, a few forceful "Leave" commands and Keira should be fine with Joseph. I hope!

Actually, that reminds me of our first retriever. Many years ago, my neighbour's daughter had taken her gerbil into their garden as it was a sunny day. The gerbil made a run for it into our garden and Bonnie spotted it and ran over.  They were nose to nose and I yelled "Leave" at the top of my voice - and Bonnie did! She was very obedient, thank goodness.

Have a good day everyone, see you later.

Good morning
It looks brighter here today, at last!!
I'm going to get my housework done early, go for a nice walk and then put the xmas tree up

Yogi, Bonnie was an absolute star to not attack that gerbil! What a good girl

Hope you all have a lovely day, whatever you're up to and I hope skylark is feeling better, and that moonie is back soon
~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone, I am glad yesterday went so well.  Aww I love hamsters, my daughter had one when she was small, he was gorgeous - she named him Daffodil I am sure Keira will be fine she is such a sweet natured dog.

Sounds like your Christmas preparations are going well Summer, those mice must have thought their Christmas had come early, good idea to get it to SIL's ASAP.

Well done Ros, enjoy your Christmas break.

Enjoy your day everyone

I heard those bangs too - surely we are too far away from Catterick?  I put them down to fireworks but it was very unusual and very very loud.

I am glad you have managed to have a lovely walk Summer, and I hope your walk with Keira is going well Yogi.

Well at least I know when we're having Christmas, we are having the meal on the Monday, 22nd December so I will have to the shopping delivered on the Sunday before.  I have managed to get my slot booked, always a tense moment as they get booked up very quickly and ordered a Bronze Free Range Taste The Difference Turkey, good price too, much cheaper than the local butcher - who was ÂĢ20 dearer!

Do you reckon EL?  Mind you I have a sneaking feeling that maybe one or two politicians may already have succumbed - did you see George Osborne the other day in the house - he looked as if he was away with velvet's Christmas Tree fairy I always liked those silver trees, I bet it will look good.  What lights do you go for, coloured or white?

I've posted before about the dangerous stretch of the A417 at Birdlip near where I live so I looked today at if there was any mention in the road improvements being announced today. It does get mentioned but the work won't get done until there's a consensus about what to do. 2018 is the earliest it's due provided consensus is reached (and that's a huge if as people have been coming up with alternative ideas for decades). At least it hasn't been ruled out.

El Loro

A few days ago I posted that very short old film by Alice Guy. The youtube front page today showed another film by her. It was made in 1906 and is a 33 minute film of the life of Jesus Christ. It's a series of 25 scenes from birth to resurrection. Although it's French, the only text used are the titles at the start of each scene. The music used would have been added since. The film is tastefully done,

Good morning everyone, I heard a bit of Nick Clegg chuntering away about his road improvement plans on LBC this morning and had to smile.  Poor dear, almost as if he has no idea about the GE in a few months and how it is likely to affect him

I am sure EL will keep us all in line whilst you are away Yogi, have a great time and hurry back

Looks like a good film EL, I will try and watch it later.

Enjoy your day everyone

Squiggle, there was a recent survey done on marginal seats held by the Lib Dems which was showing that of the 13 constituencies Lib Dems would currently retain 10. That was based on local polls rather than on the national ones. So it might not be the total wipe out that the national polls indicate.

I loved your clip

I don't like that Ikea advert either. It reminds me of when I was very young and would get queasy by going on a children's roundabout.

Thanks El, yes i know the feeling
Been looking around trying to find Christmas gifts for Granddaughter. She doesnt really play with toys, as such, but loves books on nature, and making things, she is very arty. She has never been interested with Barbie and stuff like that. For a 6 year old, she is very articulate and intelligent, not that i am saying wee girls who like Barbie arent , but it isnt her thing. She has a very inquisitive mind , and wants to know how the world works. She wants to play a musical instrument, but not able to buy her a grand piano, help ??

Skylark, a recorder is the sort of instrument suitable for a 6 year old and doesn't cost a lot. I had one when I was that age. Mouth organs/harmonicas don't cost a lot. Although you can get violins for children they are more expensive and take longer to learn than recorders. There are also electronic keyboards which are the closest thing to a piano and a lot cheaper. With violins and keyboards there's the cost of sheet music as well.

It's a long time since I was at school but playing an instrument was very much part of normal school life at all ages.

Yes i had music at school too, it seems be lost now , such a shame. Saw a good guitar in a local charity shop, thought about it, went back and it was gone  We had a keyboard for her but mum took to be repaired, never got it back

Good morning everyone, goodness I have got through so much this morning already I feel as if I've already had a whole day.

Bitterly cold wind throughout the night and still blowing a hooley, I think I'll stay in.  My grandson said when he popped in yesterday that it was really cold and very icy everywhere.

I hope all goes well at the funeral EL, still so very young and obviously no warning.  I had some shocking news by email last night and did some ringing around for friends who don't have access to the internet so they could pray.  A lady who formerly went to our church went into hospital a week ago with suspected lung cancer.  The email last night was to say that she was expected to pass within a few hours and sure enough this morning I had a phone call from one of my friends who I phoned last night to say that she died in the early hours.  Less than a week after the first news.

Skylark we will all miss you, I really hope the dizziness has got much better now, hurry back

I hope the day goes well, I am glad the weather sounds so nice where you are Summer
