Good morning raining here, which sounds nice while I'm laying in bed but I'm hoping that it stops later so I can photograph my wreaths outside

Yogi, I have frost envy, I bet it's pretty!

Squiggle, I'm loving The Christmas Cookie club (that you recommended last year) the little introductions on ingredients before each chapter, are enchanting. Cinnamon in particular was fascinating!

I thought Gertie was going to eat him at the end. lol

In the original Jurassic Park film there's an educational short shoing in the park featuring an animated dinosaur which is a nod to Gertie the Dinosaur.

I see that 2001: A Space Odyssey is being re-released in cinemas from 28 November.

That is the one film which has to be seen in a cinema. Watching it on television is almost pointless as the effect is dwarfed. I think it's getting a general release and will be in most of the Cineworld cinemas from 4 December.

I have seen it in a cinema years ago and it's an amazing experience. Although it has a U certificate it's a bit much for very young children.

If I say that he wrote songs with Tim Rice for a Disney film, that should be enough for you to know who it is.

Lion King?

Yes. I think you know who I'm referring to

Well done on the pressies      I've been in the garage hiving the boxes of negatives off and located the (antique ) projector. I suppose I better get on this later tonight.

It truly is the most wonderful time of the year though     The tree'll be up this time next week

Sorry Velvet, I got distracted by a phone call.

Are you looking out the negatives for a particular reason?

It is the most wonderful time of the year, I love it!

I'm going to put up the tree a bit earlier this year, as I'm sure PB will love it. Hubby bought me a couple of little colour changing ornaments last week - one santa and one snowman - and the little minx went off home with the santa.

*night owls* evening and sweet dreams to all who have already turned in

Squiggle I had forgotten that picture, thank you for sharing it again. That really was a beautiful morning still no frost here yet, I'm hoping we get one soon.

I've got bigger car problems than expected, so have spent the evening sorting out an alternative way of getting to work in the morning.

Here's one of my wreaths that I finished today;

I really enjoyed it
~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone

Murky outside here, rain over night but not now. I have a client to see this morning out in the countryside but at least it's at low levels otherwise I would be driving through cloud.

Fantastic wreaths Summer Well done I hope your car problems get sorted out quickly and the cost isn't too bad.

El Loro

Good morning everyone, both wreaths are beautiful Summer, well done on creating yours.  Oh no why does everything go wrong just before Christmas, I hope you can get your car fixed quickly and the expense won't be as bad as feared.

Pale blue sky here, no rain forecast, but a slight frost this morning. Still loads of leaves on the trees on the hillside opposite and it's December in a few days, that's unusual surely?

Enjoy your day everyone, and I hope the meeting with your client goes well EL

For our Scottish friends link to the 28 pages Smith Commission report published today:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared..._smithcommission.pdf

I had a look at the tax side of the proposals as to whether it could have any effect on my clients. It doesn't look as if it does.

It seems that Scottish income tax will be paid based on people's main place of residence rather than where they work. No mention of what happens to someone who moves to or from Scotland during the course of a tax year. That's one complication not yet resolved as far as I know.

No change to national insurance system, capital gains tax or inheritance tax,

Corporation tax doesn't change. That's a relief as that really could have made life complicated for accountants.

There is a change in the way that VAT receipts are shared but that seems to be dealt with at government level rather than how businesses deal with VAT. Part of the VAT receipts will go to the Scottish government but it will affect the block grant got from the UK government. I can see that getting rather messy and I can see there's the prospect of something happening similar to what recently happened when Brussels charged the UK more money as the UK had done better then expected.
