Good morning El Loro and Skylark.  Good morning everyone.
I'm glad you are feeling a bit better, Skylark, just take it easy until you are 100% again. I think you are right to get your son checked out, especially as he has asthma, better safe than sorry.

El, you had better batten down the hatches if you have stormy weather on the way.
We have more snow forecast for the next two days - and we haven't even got rid of the last lot yet.

Good morning everyone.    Glad to hear you are feeling a little better Skylark.  Keep getting plenty of rest.  Sorry to hear your son is feeling unwell.  As has been said, best to get him checked out at the doctors.

I awoke to the sound of wind and driving rain this morning but it's stopped at present.  Not a great forecast all week for this area, but at least it's not snow!!

Off to the shops in a little while.  Hope I can dodge the rain.

better batten down the hatches
I've been out shopping and, as suggested, I got some battenburg and some unhatched eggs. I'm hoping that the eggs hatch before tomorrow, and so I've put them outside together with the battenburg broken up into crumbs for the chicks to eat. I'm not convinced this will stop the storms, but it's worth trying.

Skylark, I hope your son is OK

What you been getting up to in this thread    I cannot leave you alone for a moment can I???

I managed to watch the first episode of Wild at Heart through the ITV iplayer today.  It was a bit disjointed at times, words and picture not really in sync, but I got the gist of the episode, which is what I wanted to do.  Just need to catch up with Larkrise to Candleford tomorrow, which should be easier on the eye as I've downloaded it with the Windows Media Player.

Probably won't be back again this evening but will catch up with all my lovely buddies again tomorrow.

Let us know how it goes El    Son went to Docs on his own as the receptionist said the only appointment was with a Doc who is pregnant and specifically asked not to come with flu symptoms, as i was sure my son had sinusitis, which he gets a lot i let him go. I was surprised when he came back with a prescription for penicillin 250mg 4x daily, saying he had a chest infection. As this is a high dose for his age and didnt appear to have any symptoms i phoned and asked for a call back. She just phoned and said, no he doesnt have a chest infection, he has sinusitis!! She gave him this dose as she didnt want the infected mucus going into his chest. He just doesnt listen !!  (sorry hope you arent having your tea)

Good morning everyone.
El, I hope everything goes as well as possible today.
Skylark, my son managed to get the scanner up and running. He has suggested that I wait till he is around before trying to use it by myself. He doesn't have much faith in my technical abilities.
I hope your son has a lovely birthday today.
for Squiggle and Joyron.

Good morning everyone

Just to let you know that the eggs hatched, and the chicks liked their Battenburg so much that they have said they want more. It didn't stop the rain though, and so I've put little wellington boots on them so their feet don't get wet. And I've attached little umbrellas to little collars, put the collars on the chicks so they don't get rained on.I've had to put little lead weights in the wellington boots so that the chicks don't get swept away in the wind.

You have given this some serious thought, El.
Attention to detail is good.

Good evening everyone.  The weather at present is enough to make anyone depressed, but at least it's not snowing (I keep reminding myself of that)!!

I'm glad I have my little blue light to keep me on an even keel.  Not sure what I would do without it now.

Probably won't be back again tonight but hope to catch up with you all again tomorrow.

One last quick comment before hubby comes home.  Just received an email from my penfriend in Colchester, Connecticut.  They had 23 inches of snow overnight and into this morning!!  My penfirend sent me some pictures and they are amazing.  Needless to say work was cancelled for them today.  I have to say if the amount of rain we have had was turned into snow we might be able to match that!!

Love you all.  Speak tomorrow.

Good morning everyone

It's one of those days where the weather could be a mix of sunshine and showers which is what it looks like at present, or could turn out quite pleasant or develop into persistent rain. It's certainly milder than it has been for some time. I hope nature doesn't decide that spring has come early though as it looks as if it will get colder in a few days.

Good afternoon everyone

Joyron, that's good you've been able to see Larkrise.

I wonder if Kidnap and Ransom on ITV will be good. It's stars Trevor Eve, and I think he's one of the best actors on television. There are very few actors who make me want to see anything they are in, and he's one of them. Shoestring back in 1979/80 was where I first noticed him. It's never been released on DVD due to the high costs of paying out music royalties - it was set in the radio station at Bristol and several of the episodes took place in areas which I recognised, which added to the enjoyment. The BBC did reshow the first series a couple of years ago, but in a cut form to suit afternoon audiences.
El Loro
Good afternoon El Loro.  I too like Trevor Eve but I'm not sure about Kidnap and Ransom.  Will probably record it and see what I think of it.  I keep racking my brain to think of the other series he was in, with Sue Johnson as the psychologist.  Bet you will know the programme I mean.

The trouble I have is that I have so much stuff to watch on my Sky+ box from around Christmas; Agatha Christie's Marple and Poirot etc, and also the first four episodes of the recent new series of Silent Witness which started a couple of weeks back.  I seem to have been so busy lately that I don't get chance to sit down and get into what I've already recorded!!
Joyron
Joyron, you are thinking of "Waking the Dead".

I saw the Marple episodes and Murder on the Orient Express. I prefer the Julia McKenzie ones to the Geraldine McEwan ones - the producers don't seem to take such liberties with the books as they were.

The storyline of Murder on the Orient Express is so well known that they concentrated more on the characters rather than the story. David Suchet as Poirot may shock you with the character that he portrays as he has become a far harder and grimmer person than in the past. He also has shows a Roman Catholic side to his character which is not there in the book. I'm not giving anything away by saying this as these changes become apparent from an early stage.
El Loro
El, I have my V+ set to record Kidnap and Ransom - I love Trevor Eve as Boyd in Waking The Dead, so I'm looking forward to this new series.
I agree with your comments about Murder On The Orient Express, El.
Joyron, you share my love of murder mystery programmes. I really enjoy Silent Witness, Miss Marple and Poirot, too.
