I've skyped my mum, she says she feels like the water tablets are finally starting to work now. Hopefully she will see a slight improvement each day from now on. Other than having painful legs, she's in pretty good spirits.
I think the chest infection has been a nasty one but combined with the sudden reappearance of my long lost sisters, I think the emotion of it all has had a big effect on her.

Yogi I hope you find something nice at the garden centre

I've got bookkeeping to catch up on so will be back in a bit

Got the new modem and it seems to be working better. The welcome pack still says it will take up to 10 days, maybe just a thing to stop people phoning up

I don't know if you are with Sky but I found this on their site about a 10 day period which may explain what's going on.

Hi El, thanks for that. Yes i am. I noticed very strange noises on my phone line, and it did sound like it was under water! The modem etc is in sons room, and my computer is in the main living room, but it should still take it, as my home isnt that big. There was a fault in the original modem, but have the new one up and running and all seems well now x

Skylark, that sounds as if there was either a fault with the phone line or the filter used between the phone line and the modem as it seems odd that a faulty modem would affect the phone line.

The important thing though it that it's working properly now

I am glad they were so prompt in sending you a new modem Skylark, hopefully there will no further hiccups now and you will be able to get back online whenever you wish.

We didn't buy much today but I've made a list. They are having a Christmas Evening in November and there will be 20% off, so I shall be going back then.

I did buy a book of Christmas stories and songs for PB. I had been looking for a Nativity Story aimed at little ones, and there is one in the book.

Yes it seemed such a shame.  I had envisaged us all being able to be together again, but there again such is life and I know that moonie often struggles.  Never mind moonie, hopefully we will all still be around when you are feeling yourself again

Good morning everyone, a nice morning with even a hint of hazy blue sky.  I don't know what the forecast is, maybe rain later but I am enjoying the blue sky at the moment.

I just saw a most unusual sight, took me quite by surprise. I saw a flock of birds flying and looked to see what they were and they were pheasants Mostly females, they were gone so quick.  Do you remember the mum and 2 young female pheasants that were quite frequent visitors last year?  They must be doing so well with breeding, I saw a young cock pheasant a couple of weeks ago, as I mentioned at the time.  They were flying quite strongly, I always thought they were weak flyers.

 

I hope the tax course is interesting EL, and helpful, and Yogi I hope the shopping goes according to plan.  Hoping to see Skylark back and maybe velvet too.

I'm back from that course and have had my lunch. The course was so-so but I had a chat with the lecturer about a client of mine for his views on a tax matter.

No they were completely silent.  As you can imagine they are mostly solitary birds so to see a flock of them was amazing.

Grocery shopping is done (no cakes as I'm being good) and youngest son came to visit.  He might pop back for another visit on Saturday afternoon because he found out PB is coming.

Squiggle, I've never seen pheasants in flight as a flock, that must have been a great sight. 

Summer, I'm glad your mum is a bit better but I hope she takes it easy until she is 100%.

El, I'm pleased something positive came out of the course, even if the subject matter was "so-so".

Hi Velvet. We've also been to Morrisons today. Hubby thought there had been some price dropping going on.

I've never been to a Morrisons store but their stores aren't near where I generally shop.
