Good morning everyone, still a nice morning, very high cloud though.

Yogi a lot of rooms in my house just need refreshing with a new coat of paint.  I am keeping the cream paint in the lounge, I have pink curtains and green chairs and a cream sofa, so I think it goes well.  At the moment the hall is also painted cream but I plan to change that to a very pale turquoise.  The downstairs bedroom is being painted palest blue, one wall is papered with a pale blue pattern so that will match well.

When the house is painted my grandson will paint the utility room which has a glass roof which is being replaced with a new one.  We are going for a warm pink there to make a nice bright entrance to the house. As well as being painted I am having plastic fascias and new gutters and the old cedar cladding on the back where the dormer windows are will be clad in one of these new cement fibre boards which are extremely durable and come in loads of colours.

EL you might be interested in how we do things in a Baptist Church. 'Drink the bread and share the wine'. We have a real loaf of bread which the minister breaks.  This is shared out onto platters and brought round by whoever is serving, usually deacons, to everyone in church.  The minister tells us it may be taken by anyone who has given their heart to the Lord.  The minister always repeats the quote "On the night that Jesus was betrayed......"  Similarly wine (in reality blackcurrant juice ) is brought round in little cups.  We eat the bread when served but drink the wine all together 'do this in remembrance of Me'.

Enjoy your day everyone

squiggle

Squiggle, that is interesting. I think there are C of E churches who also use bread rather than wafers. The wafers and wine we use come from specialist church suppliers. I know at one time the wafers were made by a convent. We use wafers rather than bread as numbers can be quite variable so we can choose how many to consecrate. Those who can come to the altar to receive a wafer and wine, the priest and one of the people helping to administer then go to those in the congragation who have difficulty walking.

The words used in C of E communions for the consecration are similar to those used in Roman Catholic masses and we do use "on the night.." and "do this in remembrance of us"

Afternoon all sunny and warm here

Squiggle your plans sound lovely, I especially like your living room colours. My bedroom is a very pale green with pink/white furnishings, I love it so much I'm going to paint it the exact same colour next time it needs doing

Yogi I hope you're having fun making your jelly

El that's very kind to go out to homes for holy communion
~Sparkling Summer~

Squiggle, your colour schemes sound lovely. I'm sure the rooms will look beautiful when you have finished.

Interesting to learn of the differences and similarities re communion.

I'm about to start the jelly making! Although I've previously made strawberry jam and gooseberry jam, this is my first attempt at bramble jelly. Wish me luck!

I think it's interesting too, I like to know the differences between churches

It's a bit of a faff compared to making strawberry jam, so I hope it's worth the effort.

It's okay, I knew about the pectin situation and have added apples.

Any improvement, however small, is good news.

Good morning everyone, another nice bright morning but certainly a very heavy dew which is a sign of Autumn well on the way.

Sounds like the bramble jelly is a huge success Yogi, I bet everyone will be clamouring for some.  I remember tasting my best friend's mum's bramble jelly when I was a teenager, it was divine.

Enjoy your day everyone

Thanks Squiggle and El.

I think homemade jam and jelly has a more concentrated fruit flavour and less sugary sweet, if you know what I mean?

My eldest son and DiL will have a couple of jars - which is only fair as they helped to pick the brambles/blackberries, and youngest son and his GF like bramble jelly so they will definitely want a jar too. Middle son only likes strawberry jam and DiL only likes apricot jam, so they have missed out this time. They can have an extra jar of strawberry jam next time I make it.

Hope all goes well at the client's, El.

Velvet, I hope my car MOT tomorrow is that sort of price.

I've been sending emails to all my clients about the latest phishing email supposedly from HMRC. I was sending each one as a separate email rather than as a group of emails so not to give clients email addresses of other clients. Eventually, my email server for sending emails was frozen and not sending them. (possibly as a safeguard against what the server might have thought was my computer churning out spam). It was only temporary and is back to normal

Hope everyone's having a good day

Hi Velvet.

By today's standards, ÂĢ240 isn't too bad for a MOT. At least that's you sorted for another year.

The thought of you as a spammer made me smile.

Yep Yogi

Hope you're having a good day and the jelly sounds like a winner

I've been catching up on ironing and general housework, so I can say it's been productive.

Hubby tested the jelly - he had a jeely piece - and gave it the

 Jammy Bramble!

Isn't it funn how they recognise nicknames as well as their real names? When we got Keira, my sons often called her Keira Knightley - my eldest still calls her Knightley, and she answers to it.

Good morning everyone.

It has rained overnight but is now dry and bright.

Might be a bit early, but I am seriously considering a visit to the garden centre to check out their Christmas decorations.

El, good luck with the MOT today, I hope it sails through without any problems.

Have a good day, everyone.

I arrived here by accident this morning! Moin! xx
Can I just say that last year after much experimentation I discovered a new recipe.
I boiled some of our apples to mush, added the brambles, and then a punnet of blueberries. People couldn't get enough of the resultant jam. The blueberries gave it a lovely fluorescent red colour.
I love to forage and use anything going, rosehips, sloes, hybrid plums, and damsons. I tend to put a bag of jam sugar in too.

Morning Joe.

I love blueberries so I'll keep that in mind next time I'm making bramble jelly.

What do you make with the rosehips? I remember picking them when I was in primary school but not since. I love rose hip syrup, so perhaps that should be next on my list to try?
