Good morning everyone its snowing here Thank you for posting that link on here EL, I have emailed it to Joyron already but its nice to have if others want to look her up.  Its very topical of course because that new movie The King's Speech includes that little poem.  I am old enough to remember the King and how devastated I was when a boy came to school after going home for lunch and told us that the King was dead.  We all refused to believe him and I was very upset.

Elizabeth became queen 3 weeks before I was born so I never knew Geoge VI as monarch. The King's Speech sounds as if it's going to be one of the major contenders for awards this year including the Oscars. It has already been in the news for originally being classified 15 for 11 uses of a certain word, but on appeal revised to a 12A cert on the grounds that the word is used in a speech therapy context. In the States, the R certificate has remained, but the difference is that there adults can take underage people in to see an R rated film.

I'm going to be dreaming of spotty dogs jumping up and down on my car tonight

Apart from a sprinking on some surfaces, nothing has come of that snow here. Though, the BBC forecast here shows Friday mild and wet, but the Met Office shows a more recent update which now shows similar to today, at least in Gloucester. I don't think they really know.

Good morning everyone

Skylark, since the changes, I sense that Seattle's attitude to providing help has been cut back. I used to send a PM for such a request, but they no longer seem to appreciate that. I think they expect you to create a thread in the Community Technical Questions/Suggestions asking for this, but I don't know to what extent they look at this.

You could create a thread in the Big Brother forum with an appropriate title and make a posting asking Seattle to add a sticky. Good luck.

Good morning to all my lovely buddies.    Hope you are all well.  I'm pleased to say that I am feeling much better now, almost back to my old self!!

I am really enjoying having the house to myself this morning.  It is SO quiet.  I've just finished ironing four loads of washing and I'm off to the shops shortly to stock up on everything I'm running short of.  Hubby is due to be at home tomorrow but I'm hoping if the weather is okay he will choose to spend some time down on his boat.  If not then Thursday is not too far away, when he is due to return to work full time!!

Will catch up with you all again later.  Have a good day whatever you are doing.

Joyron
Good afternoon everyone

Joyron, it's good to know that you're feeling a lot better and that Grumpy is going back to work.

I see on my internet searches that the actor who voiced Grumpy in the Disney film also voiced Sleepy. I'm not sure he ever appeared in a film, but besides Grumpy and Sleepy, elsewhere he voiced Goofy and Pluto many many times. His name was Pinto Colvig. Now that could one day win one of you a million pounds on Who Wants to be a Millionaire

Good morning everyone.    Just a quick visit as hubby is at home today!!  Sorry I didn't get back again yesterday but hubby came home a lot earlier than I expected.

Squiggle, yes I did receive your email.  Please accept my sincere apologies for not acknowledging it.  Everything has been so muddled over the past couple of weeks.  I printed the email off and have it stuck on the wall next to the computer, so that I can see and read it every day.

El Loro, I've read your post in the PM.  You have certainly had much to deal with recently.

Will get back later if I can, if not hope to catch up with you all tomorrow.
Joyron
Morning  Nice to see you Joyron x    Thanks El and squiggle re DOI .   I havent received any PMs , and appear to have lost our little place    The computer has been playing up so i asked my son to give it a "clean" , he may have deleted some stuff , as there are no PMs at all, the old ones have gone too ..... Hope you are Ok Yogi x
FM
Skylark, you are right, your son has managed to delete you from your PMs, and it is not possible to add you back on to our little PM.

So I have created a new PM for 2011, and I have copied yesterday's post from me and also squiggle's reply.

So you should be able to access that one, and we'll use that one from now on.

Skylark, I'm assuming that your electrics are wired up through a trip switch panel. I think that's a legal requirement for all houses once they get rewired if it's not already there.

So unless one of the trip switches was triggered, you can assume that it was an external power cut rather than something in your house. On the other hand, if the same trip switch gets triggered each time then that suggests there's a problem with some item on the circuit controlled by that trip switch. So it's then a case of identifying which item it is by trying each item in turn to see what does it.

If you find the item which causes it, then if there is a fuse, if the fuse is replaced and blows again, then there is a fault with that item. On no account just put a piece of wire in place of the fuse or a higher rated fuse to prevent it from blowing. That's a recipe for real disaster like an electric shock or the house burning down.

Nice pussy cats, squiggle

Good morning everyone

Dental appointment this morning, but it's just a check up, so I'm not expecting any shocks apart from the bill. If I charged my clients at the same rate per minute as my dentist, either I would be a millionaire by the end of the year or, more likely, have no clients
El Loro
Good morning everyone, good luck at the dentist EL hope there are no nasty shocks.  Talking of charges per hour I bet even dentists cannot approach the fees that top London lawyers charge or even patent or trademark agents (I used to work in that field and some of the charges in both those professions take your breath away).

Good morning  Nice poody cats       Thanks El for advice last night, sorry i didnt want to run the risk of the cuts affecting the computer so i shut it down. Dont know the cause of it, but it was external, thank goodness. No it didnt trip the electrics but set my alarms off, the carbon monoxide one just wouldnt reset so i used the only thing i could think of and hit it with a hammer  I now have to pay someone to come fix it!  These things are sent to try us!  Good luck at the dentist!
FM
The alarms do have batteries, but they bypass them and go onto the electric circuit, so taking the batteries out wouldnt stop the alarm, They are linked to the lights so i switched that off, but the house was in darkness, when i switched it back on the siren started again, the reset button wouldnt work so i hit it !     You will be smiling all day now with your nice clean teeth  oops sorry read that wrong, but you must have good teeth anyway!  I am ranting now need my lunch, bye for now x
