Enjoyed my youth at Butlins Metropole in Blackpool many a time. First time in a Mini.
Got my mum to thank for that.
Your mum is a good 'un.

Good morning everyone. Well done Bramble I am glad you are feeling a little better this morning Summer
Definitely feeling cooler this morning. It was amazingly warm and humid at the funeral yesterday and although there was only a service at the crematorium it was a very warm Christian service with many people speaking with great affection of our friend who by all accounts had lead a most interesting life and showed great kindness to everyone he met. He was described as a real gentleman which is the way everyone described my hubby so it's no wonder they hit it off.
Enjoy your day everyone
Squiggle, I'm pleased that it was a very warm Christian funeral service yesterday. I once went to a non-religious funeral service at the local crem of a friend of my late mother and it was utterly devoid of any warmth at all.
It's funny you should say that EL, I was just talking to a friend recently and her brother died quite recently. Just before he died he said to her 'promise me you won't let me have a funeral like that' referring to one they had both attended a couple of years ago. It was probably a humanist funeral, no offence meant to any who like that sort of funeral but we all have different tastes, and he found it soulless. My friend is a wonderful Christian lady and she was so comforted to find that before her brother passed he had been unconscious for some time and then woke up, bright as a button and said 'there's no need to worry I've seen so-and-so' and gave further descriptions. Obviously he had been given a foretaste of heaven and was quite at ease when he died a couple of days later. At the funeral yesterday we entered to Amazing Grace and sang The Lord's My Shepherd with organ accompaniment during the service and left to Louis Armstrong What a Wonderful World. So although our friend was not a churchgoer it would seem he was a believer
Squiggle, I think that funeral I had gone to was a humanist one as well.
Your friend's brother's account is similar to the one I have mentioned before about my late client who, shortly before she died, woke to tell her son that she had seen that she had regained the use of her arthritic hands and had been sewing clothes for the angels.
Some wonderful hymns and song at yesterday's funeral.
After this afternoon's football, the top of League 2 looks like this:
Position | Team | Played | Goal Difference | Points |
---|---|---|---|---|
Moving up 1 | Cheltenham | 6 | 4 | 14 |
Moving up 2 | Morecambe | 6 | 5 | 13 |
Moving down 3 | Burton | 5 | 4 | 13 |
No Movement 4 | Shrewsbury | 6 | 5 | 11 |
No Movement 5 | Wycombe | 6 | 4 | 11 |
No Movement 6 | Bury | 6 | 3 | 11 |
Moving up 7 | Northampton | 6 | 2 | 11 |
Moving up 8 | Plymouth | 6 | 4 | 10 |
Moving down 9 | Portsmouth | 5 | 3 | 10 |
Squiggle and El, I've only been to one humanist funeral and hubby has been to a few. We both share your feelings on them.
Of course, we understand why those with no religious beliefs would prefer to have one - each to their own.
Middle son and DiL have been visiting. Lots of chatting and laughing.
Bright and happy to match your personality.
I'm tired, so off to bed.
Goodnight and sweet dreams Summer and Fremsley.
Moonie, we miss you, get well soon.
Good morning everyone.
Summer, I love the Pooh and Piglet pic.
Weather is dry and bright, so I'm hoping to get some gardening done today.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning everyone
Cloudy here at present but is forecast to become sunnier.
A get well soon for Moonie.
Summer, and pancakes to be provided at the do after the funeral service
Yogi, I hope you have a productive gardening day today
Good morning everyone, one of those pearly grey morning with a promise of better things to come
I hope all goes well with the gardening Yogi. A lovely goodnight pic Summer
Keeping the theme going
Summer, I hope your tonsillitis clears up within a couple of days If it doesn't then you need to see your doctor. I assume you are gargling with warm salty water rather than cold as warm is more effective.
I'm glad you are feeling a bit better.
Btw, I'm in the Strictly thread.
I did! I like the new male pro, Tristan and I like Thom and Jake. I like Scott too.
DiL (middle son's wife) loves Scott, youngest son loves Frankie from The Saturdays and Mr Yogi hates Judy Murray.
I like Thom, jake and Scott, and I like Sunetra. Mark Wright was okay when he was in IAC, but I never watched Towie.
I can't stand Gregg.
Gregg is the bald greengrocer who "judges" the food on Masterchef, even though he doesn't have a cooking qualification to his name.
Who you like/not like?
Simon from Blue? I thought he might be a bit cocky.
I love Pasha but I'm undecided about Caroline. That fling with Harry from 1D was a bit
Off to bed, goodnight and sweet dreams, Summer.
Night owl hug for Fremsley And hugs for our absentees.
