Lucky El. My garden is too small to have fruit trees but I'd love to have apple and plum trees.

Evening all hope you've had a good day each.
I've had back to school chaos! All happy and kind, just a lot if them.
Feeling pooped so going straight to bed, I have a feeling that tomorrow could well be the same

El, I'm glad your brother got home safely, albeit it delayed. I hope they do compensate him for the inconvenience.

Squiggle & yogi, I couldn't agree more about the state off bb these days, it makes me wonder at the direction our society is heading in

Leaving goodnight and get well hugs where needed

I was listrning to the BBC radio news just now and they were talking about vacuum cleaners and the panic caused by the EU's import ban on those with a wattage over 1600.

There's a BBC article on this:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-29021886

It mentions that manufacturers have been increasing the wattage over the years and older machines could be just as good as modern ones even though they had a lesser wattage.

So as I have an old Electrolux one which I bought in 1991 I thought I would see what the wattage was for that one.

Here's a Youtube clip showing the same machine as mine:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvPNCRL_L0E

It says 550 watts so my machine is way below those thresholds

Having a golden retriever who casts hair like mad, I like my vacuum cleaner to have a high wattage, so I'm not happy with the new rules. My current one has 2100watts.

Very still here - it's autumnal for sure. Waiting for a lawnmower for sis off ebay which should have been here last Friday so had to seek resolution for the first time in six years. We'll see what happens.

Hope everyone's having a good day

I hope the lawn mower turns up soon.

*night owls*

I just tried to get into bed and discovered that bramble had beaten me to it the cheeky madam! I soon evicted her

Yogi, good luck tomorrow I hope it's a nice smooth visit, and a productive one I hope you get some sleep tonight

El, well done to that young man, I hope his mentor is a good one and that his salon is very successful

Sweetest of dreams to each of you and leaving goodnight & get well hugs for absent friends
~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone.  I'll be thinking of you Yogi, I hope the scan goes well and is over very quickly

Cheek little madam that Bramble

Broken cloud and a definite autumnal feel to the air today, there are already brown leaves on my lawn, and I have found my first Christmas gift, I haven't bought it yet but have bookmarked the page

I hope your day is good everyone, and not too busy Summer

Good morning it's cooler and cloudier here today, I can hear birds chirping away outside
I'm off today so having a lay in.

Yogi, good luck I hope all goes well today

Aw I saw golden leaves for the first time yesterday, and some conkers! With strictly starting this weekend and knowing Downton Abbey is back on the 21st, it really does feel like autumn is almost here!

What are you up to today Squiggle & El?
~Sparkling Summer~

Hi Summer, I'm doing a little filling and painting in my living room today.  Nothing full scale but just here and there where the surface needs a little improvement, what are your plans today?  I think when the clocks go back this weekend we will really notice a difference.  I am sure I will enjoy it when it starts but I'm not a fan of Claudia Winkleman or Tess Daly so I'm not looking forward to Strictly as much as I normally would sadly

EL how can anyone eat those mountains of food?  It kills my appetite just to look at it.

squiggle

Hi everyone.

Squiggle, I love the colours of autumn leaves, they are so beautiful.

I'm afraid my scan was a total failure. I managed to drink a litre of the yucky stuff but it made me violently sick - before they could do the scan. This meant they couldn't do the particular scan I was supposed to have. They tried to do some other scan instead, but I got so wound up in case I would be sick again in the scanner and my claustrophobia really kicked in. I had to buzz to be brought out of the scanner before they even got started and I was shaking like a leaf and ended up in tears, so they decided not to try again and let me go home. The radiographer said my consultant needs to look at other options, as it isn't fair to put me through all that again.

No sign of the new mower and no sign of a response.

Hope everyone's okay and hugs for moonie and Yogi

Hi Fremsley. Well done on avoiding the worst of the traffic.

Bad news about the lawn mower. Have you gone into dispute about it now?

Thanks for the hug.

Yes, we're in the resolution centre on ebay but shouldn't be any worries. Just get a refund. Plenty others on there, just saves taking a petrol one up

Scan was a bit of a disaster, I posted further up the thread ^^^^.

Hubbby and sons have had a couple of eBay disputes over the years and they were always given refunds. Hope you are given your refund quickly and you can buy a replacement.

Sorry to read that you poor thing   - what a dreadful experience      Having psyched yourself up for it aswell. Heartfelt fingers crossed there is another option that your consultant can come up with

I think part of the problem was that I've had weeks and weeks to think about it and got myself worked up into a state. I'm not going back into that scanner so they better come up with something else.

There is an open sided mri scanner in Newcastle and the clinic accept referrals from Scotland for those with claustrophobia. It indicates that it covers abdominal scans amongst others.

 Thanks El.

The radiographer mentioned the "doughnut" scanner as an option, but said I would still need to drink the yucky stuff, which is a problem as it makes me violently sick.

I feel a lot better tonight, thanks Summer.

How has your day been, is it less busy now the kiddywinks have gone back to school?

Oops, it was your day off today - have you had a good day?
