I think we are going to get the rain at about the same time as you EL, looks like it could be very heavy too.
Well done Summer and Mr Yogi, and a delicious lunch to follow. I love apple crumble and custard but I don't know when I last had it.
Summer, I hope so too. If there is any flooding, it would be surface water on roads rather than properties being flooded.
It looks delicious EL thanks darn it I am going to add one to my groceries this week
Ice bucket challengers please click on this link, a long-term sufferer of ALS joins in with the challenge - bless him.

I've read your posts in the weather thread about the lovely smells coming from a neighbour's BBQ, have you popped round yet with your bucket and sponge?

Evening Summer. What have you ordered from the Chinese takeaway?
How are you tonight yogi?
Enjoy your food.
Sorry Summer, I'm going to have to go. Upset tummy last night and didn't get much sleep, so I'm shattered.
Goodnight and sweet dreams.
Hugs for our absentees
Good morning everyone.
Dry, bright and chilly morning.
No plans for today, apart from catching up on some housework.
Have a good day, everyone.
Good morning everyone
Rain overnight here, heavy cloud but currently dry, the forecast is for the heavy rain to be this afternoon in my area.
Monnie and Yogi, I hope you are feeling better today
Definitely like a pop group here, wet wet wet, not drenching but steady. Disappointing for all those looking to enjoy the last Bank Holiday of the year.
I hope you all manage to enjoy the day anyway whatever you're up to. Y ogi how's your poor old tum? And did you sleep any better? I hope moonie is feeling a bit better today.
Squiggle, it's drenching wet here now. There's no bank holiday in Scotland today but St Andrews Day tends to be a bank holiday. It's on a Sunday though this year.

Tummy is a lot better and I slept well last night, thanks Squiggle.
I've pottered about doing housework, been to b&q to find a new kitchen tap and walked Bramble
Yogi I'm pleased you slept well and feel better today
We're heading out to the cinema, back later
Happy Bank Holiday to you, Summer.
Enjoy the cinema - which film are you going to see?
Youngest son and his GF are coming for dinner, so I'll find out what they thought of Portugal and I'll let you know. Youngest son is also going to do the Ice Bucket Challenge tonight - his dad nominated him.
Summer, I hope you enjoy whatever film you're off to see
Yogi, I'm glad you had a better night and are feeling a lot better
It must be the silly season when the BBC has an article about those Fighting Fantasy gamebooks from 30 years ago.

I once had a look at one of them and was quickly bored with it.

Thanks El.
Fighting Fantasy gamebooks aren't my cup of tea either.
I had put a load into the washing machine, but failed to notice one of the socks had caught in the bottom of the door, resulting in a little gap through which water was escaping and creating a great puddle on my kitchen floor. My stupid machine won't open mid-programme, even if it is switched off, so I have to wait until it is finished to empty it. I now have several towels jammed up against the machine to soak up the water. Aaaarrrgggghhhh!
It's all sorted now, El. I was about to mop the floor anyway.
That's a nuisance Yogi and so easily done. It's getting the water out that's under the machine stresses me out, I try to poke the edge of a towel underneath to act as a wick, my machine is very heavy so not easy to move.

I have the same problem, and did the same as you with the towel.
Tomorow I'm seeing the widow of the ex-client who received that unexpected tax bill last week.
Although I have a lack of detail before I see her I have done some checking. It seems that a self assessment tax return had been sent in which resulted in a tax refund in February. The tax calculations we got last week are outside the self assessment system.
So question 1 is why has HMRC done this?
I also tried to do my own calculations on my tax software and have got much the same result as the February one which had the refund.
So question 2 is why, when using the same figures do we get one result on the HMRC's self assessment calculation, and a different result on the HMRC's non-self assessment calculation?
I think the issue relates to the way that chargeable event gains on some life assurance policies on maturity or surrender are treated. It's complex but once I've seen the widow I'm hoping to get it sorted and it will be interesting to see what HMRC has to say about this.
I hope you manage to get it sorted out for her, El. It's hard enough grieving for a loved one, without extra complications.
Youngest son has done his Ice Bucket challenge and donated money to Crohns &Colitis UK. His GF is doing the challenge tomorrow, and is donating to the same charity.
We saw the new inbetweeners movie, very childish but a good laugh
El, I hope the situation with the widow is soon resolved, I hope there's something you can do
