I once met a fella with a dog, he told me he'd been staying at a pub where the dog lived and was being mistreated by the owner, they used to put out cigarettes on it and stuff like that. He said he could bare it so after they had checked out he sneaked back and just grabbed the dog! It had been living with him about 5 years when I met them, he loved it

No wonder he "rescued" it! At least the poor dog had a good life with him.

So how's your day been?!

My day has been good. The sun has been shining (not particularly warm though) so I pottered about in the garden for a while, did some housework, washing etc and read for an hour or so.

How's your day been?

The garden is looking tidy. I put in some autumn flowering pansies yesterday to add some colour and Mr Yogi cut the back lawn before he went to work - he was on late duty today.

Naughty Mr Summer! I've been asking Mr Yogi to fix the loft hatch for a fortnight, and he still hasn't done it!

Broth and wispa sounds good.

I hope Moonie feels better soon, we miss him.

No offense to the men folk in here
I'll just do it myself on Thursday

Aw what colour pansies? I like them you've reminded me to buy some spring bulbs!

I try not to nag, but I will be giving him a gentle reminder about the loft hatch.

The pansies are mostly purple, burgundy and indigo shades and look rather pretty. I've also bought some daffodil bulbs to put in. I was looking for some bluebell bulbs but the garden centre didn't have any. I'll take a trip to the bigger garden centre in the next week and see if they have some.

Happy bake off day everyone

I'm guessing your predictive text has kicked in again?

Enjoy your lie in.

Good morning everyone.

Weather is dry and bright, but there definitely has been a drop in temperature recently.

El, my hearing has been on the last few mornings. I can't bear to be cold.

I think we are all agreed on people who mistreat animals.

Yes, up here, I think it tends to get colder earlier in the year and it takes longer to heat up in Spring.

It does seem to have been very cold for August, it feels more like mid October!

What are you all up to today?

I like fruit bread but never had one with rosemary in it - sounds nice.

No plans for today, apart from going to the chemist to get the balance on my prescription. They are having problems getting one of my tablets.

Yogi19

Good morning everyone, it's definitely chilly but a nice bright blue sky.  It certainly does feel more like October at the moment.

Is that an unusual tablet I wonder Yogi?  My holly bush is so big it's turned into a holly tree I think, time to have it trimmed back it's getting too big.

I put the winter duvet on yesterday and the heated mattress cover, it was bliss!  I'm hoping for some sun today to get the summer duvet dry.

Enjoy your day everyone, don't work too hard EL

squiggle

Squiggle, there was a holly bush at my parents' house which was so large that it seemed closer to a tree than a bush. The nightmare plant though was a berberis which formed a hedge st one side of the front garden, It was about 8 foot tall and very very thorny. Quite painful to cut each year.

It's getting sunny here so may be you will get some sun to dry out your duvet.

Yogi, I hope you are able to get those tablets today. The tablets I have are common enough for chemists to have them in stock but there was one time when they only had one box and I had to go back for the second.

It's the steroid, and I don't think it's unusual. It happened once before with my immuno-suppressants, and at that time, there seemed to be a problem with the suppliers.

Fingers crossed they have my tabs today.

I'm sure your holly tree looks beautiful, even if it is a bit big.

This morning, I had a copy of a tax calculation sent to me by HMRC for a past client (I hadn't see him for years as he was long retired). I knew from someone else that the client died last year and that the tax calculation would have been sent to his wife as executor.

Given the fact that the calculation showed that there was quite a lot of tax to pay I thought I would ring his wife. She had just received the letter. She was shaken by the letter as she was not expecting it. I tried to explain what I thought might have caused this tax bill. It's likely to be right but I said I would pop round next week and go through the papers just to make sure it's correct. If nothing else, at least I can confirm that it's correct.

It would be nice if HMRC could be a bit more compassionate when sending tax bills to executors when the taxpayer has died rather than just sending a computerised calculation.

Oh no yogi, I hope they can track down the tablets you need! Do we all need to make a phone call to the chemist?!

That was fast El, well done

Hopefully not, Summer. If they can't get the tabs, I'll contact my GP for advice.

Afternoon Fremsley.

I think autumn has arrived.

I think you could be right

I have a lot of tomatoes in the greenhouse which are yet to turn red, so I'm hoping we'll still have a few sunny days, otherwise I'll be making green tomato chutney.
