Just to say Joyron, i was at the shops for my 3rd visit today getting last minute cards for those i had forgotten  and a man was in, about 65 or so, stating that he just wanted to get out the house because "the wife" was hoovering and he couldnt stand the noise !!! I turned and glared at him, but managed to keep my mouth shut but i was mad

Thank you El Loro and Skylark.  It's nice to get a little bit of sympathy from others when there's none forthcoming from those close by!!!  What makes me sad if we put all this effort into making Christmas a special time for those we love and it grates a bit when you realise nothing is going to happen as you expect!!  I've already warned No.1 son that he may not get Christmas dinner tomorrow, it all depends on how hubby feels when he wakes up in the morning.

If needs be I will let tomorrow pass us by but I intend having a really good day with the grandchildren on Sunday.  If hubby cannot cope with it then he can just take to his bed and stay there!!!  Oh dear, I'm on my soapbox again - sorry !!
Joyron
Tell him in no uncertain terms Joyron, away to bed and stay there, best place for him. Dont let it ruin your day. You are not feeling well yourself and its draining. Try tonight to take some paracetomol, have a nice bath and have a sleep. Dont let him ruin the day. Dont give him any attention and he may, hopefully realise what a selfish person he is being.  I understand about hyper grandchildren, i have one myself and i know you need all your energy

Thank you for your kind words Skylark.  Unfortunately when I try and tell him that he's not the only one feeling unwell he just says - "If you felt as bad as I do you wouldn't be able to do what you've done".  Therefore I cannot feel as bad as he does.  I will be away to my bed shortly.  Hopefully I will get to sleep through the night.  Last night I got woken at 1.30 am with a request that I push the button to put the hot water on so that he could have a shower; as he was soaking wet from having a high temperature!!!  Perhaps that shows you what I have to put up with.

Good morning everyone

Squiggle and others, my brother did arrive here on Christmas Eve. I had warned him in advance that here, that night and Christmas Day would be exceptionally cold so he came prepared. It's likely that the two nights were the coldest in Gloucester for many years. Church in the morning, but numbers were well down due to the cold. Back home, we opened our presents. I cooked lunch, and we had a pleasant day.

Boxing Day was of course on a Sunday, so back to church I go. In church terms, it was the fear of St Stephen, the first martyr. So the service was based on that, so apart from singing Good King Wenceslas, there was nothing Christmassy about it. There were 30 people in all, which for the main Sunday service in my church was the lowest number I can recall in the plus 40 years I've been going there.

My brother is here but has to go back to London Wednesday afternoon as his library re-opens on Thursday.

The thaw has started here in Gloucester. It's a slow thaw, but it's the first time temperatures have gone above zero for quite a few days.

Good morning everyone.
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, although I notice that Joyron's home was hit by illness.
I'm afraid I was unwell over Christmas, and spent the day in bed. I feel like Christmas passed me by, this year. Anyway, I'm on the mend now.
Thank you to Marguerita, Baz and Velvet for their Christmas wishes and, of course, to the Buddies.

Good morning Yogi , I'm sorry to hear that you were poorly over Christmas . I think that a combination of stress over getting ready for Christmas and the cold weather seems to result in a higher level of illness in the general public at this time.

I noticed that your picture you posted on Christmas Eve seems to have vanished, at least on my computer. So I took the liberty of reposting the picture in the posting I made immediately after yours.

and you say Joyron's home was hit by illness?
I was referring to Joyron's cold and Mr Joyron's manflu cold.

Thank you for that El Loro. I noticed this morning, that it had disappeared but my poor old brain couldn't cope with reposting it.

Skylark, I'm glad your family had a good Christmas - even if you did end up with the washing up.

Afternoon everyone.    Sorry to hear you have been ill too Yogi.

Christmas has been pretty grim in our house.  Thankfully No.1 son and my wonderful grandchildren have kept me going.  I feel absolutely awful but just seem to be able to keep going.  Don't know how!!  Hubby is still "dying".  Fortunately we managed to persuade him that we didn't mind if he retired to his bed, so at least that cloud is off the horizon for the moment.

Will catch up with you all when I can.  Glad you all managed to have a good time.
Joyron
That's better! Just given the car a thorough wash and polish, topped up the windscreen reservoir and vacuumed the inside and wiped all the surfaces.  A solid hour's work but just what me (and the car) needed.  Nice to be outside without freezing off your wotsits.  Nice new avatar Skylark, ready for the New Year? I see the site is the same old same old you did not provide a comment!  Oh yes I did you silly thing!

It's ages since I had the you did not provide a comment! notice come up when I tried to post a reply. But I do know that when I load a forum page, if the bottom of the page stops without showing the powered by Hoop.la sign, then although it looks as if I can still post a reply, it doesn't work, so I just refresh the page before opening the Post Reply box.

Afternoon everyone.
We had some rain overnight, so the majority of the snow has gone. There are still a few icy patches to look out for, otherwise things are much better.
I'm feeling a lot better today and thank you all for your good wishes. (I don't think my brain is working properly though, as I keep doing dyslexic typing, so forgive any spelling mistakes please.)
Skylark, it sounds like your little granddaughter is keeping you busy.

Good morning everyone

Yogi, I'm glad that you are recovering . I'm more than capable of dyslexic typing, sometimes swapping 2 letters around, or typing the letter next to the one I meant to type. I caused a certain amount of amusement on a thread some time ago when I typed "a" instead of "s" in the word "test"

Joyron, I hope you are feeling better

How did I miss that typo?
