Moonie, you have been very busy today. I've done some housework, made a pot of lentil soup and a beef stew for tonight's dinner, and started reading a book on my new kindle.

El, that sounds like a fitting service to commemorate the start of WW1 and to remember those who gave their lives for this country.

Yep, Yogi, everything done and dusted for a while

Sounds like you have had an active day too I have never had lentil soup. What book are you reading?

Lentil soup is one of my favourites, but then again, I like most soups.

I'm reading Nadine Dorrie's first novel called The Four Streets. It's about Liverpool in the 1950/1960's and it is quite good - better than I expected.

I'm afraid I only ever eat the 'soups' that come out of a tin Yogi

Glad you're enjoying you book

I like soups out of a tin too - especially Heinz Tomato Soup.

I am a veg soup person meself Yogi

Hubby likes Heinz veg soup.

A man of good taste

How's your weekend been yogi? Have you been feeling ok?

Weekend has been fine. I did wake with pains last night but I took the anti spasm meds and it settled quite quickly.

Awww that's good Yogi

Yes, I've been eating like a horse today.

That's good, isn't it?

Maybe.

How about you, are you eating properly and taking care of yourself?

Same here too Yogi. I have started a thread ask the Mods to investigate

Nite nite. Sleep well and have sweet dreams

Moonie

Morning everyone

A bit cloudy here but forecast is for a dry day.

Summer, I hope your cold goes away quickly

Moonie, we have alerted Lori on the coggy problems so that she can inform the tech people. I haven't noticed any coggy problems myself but then I'm not here in the evenings when the forum is as its busiest.

For those who fell 100 years ago

Good morning everyone, cloudy but dry here.  Yogi I am glad the anti-spasm meds kick in quickly, it must give you peace of mind.

The moat that surrounds the Tower of London has long stood empty and dry. This summer, it's getting filled with 888,246 red ceramic poppies, one for each British and Colonial soldiers who perished during World War I.

For the past few weeks, a team of 150 volunteers has been placing red ceramic poppies one by one around the Tower. Crawford Butler, the longest serving Yeoman Warden, also known as beefeater, planted the first ceramic poppy. The last poppy will be symbolically planted on the last day of the installation: November 11, Armistice Day.

Thanks Squiggle. I think the trick is to take the anti spasm meds as soon as the pains start.

I think the ceramic poppies are a wonderful tribute.

A couple of weeks ago I posted about a programme on BBC4 called "From Scotland with Love". I recorded it and watched it a few days ago.

It's a composite of clips of Scottish life over the last 100 years. There's no dialogue as such but there is background sound. The music is by King Creosote.

It's clearly a labour of love and is closer to a work of art rather than a documentary.

My rating for this is 10/10. I'm not Scottish though, and it's likely that those who are would give it a higher rating.

It's not on iPlayer but you can get it on DVD from Amazon if you are interested.

Just read the reviews which support what I've said.

I wish I had seen it, El. I'll go check it out on Amazon.

Yogi, you might find if you saw "From Scotland with Love" that there were people you recognise and more likely places you recognise.

Another update on the defaced Cheltenham Banksy picture.

http://www.gloucestershireecho...92-detail/story.html

A Cheltenham street artist raises the question as to why the police are investigating the defacement, why didn't they investigate the original artwork. The simple answer is that no-one reported the original to the police.
