Good morning everyone, I think it's going to be much warmer today, but then cooler from then on.

How exciting EL, do let us all know the difference it makes to your broadband speed.  I've probably got a much slower speed here but it seems to do for all my needs, just a normal wireless router and a tiny ISP.

It would probably be warm enough to sit outside Summer but I really don't like sitting in the sun, I am happy to sit in the shade though and really enjoying the lovely weather we've been having.

I hope your day goes really well Yogi, bird and squirrel spotting no doubt with PB

squiggle

Squiggle, Im not sure that I will notice much difference in my broadband speed in general use. There won't be any noticeable difference in posting here or emailing. Although Youtube clips will download faster, as my existing download rate is faster then the playback speed I don't get any holdups in playing back. The main difference would be things such as if I decided to buy a game through Steam, it will take shorter time to download, but that's not something I do on a frequent basis.

I just thought about you as I put my 3rd load of washing on the line

Squiggle, I love the hot weather but like you, have to sit in the shade If I'm reading or eating I prefer to be inside with the doors open

Me too, I love to sit and watch all the birds and the butterflies and bees buzzing about but I am so uncomfortable if I get hot.

To be honest, the setting up process for a wired connection is simpler than for a wireless connection. The activation process takes longer. You have to ring them up, they then send an activation signal and you have to wait for the best part of 10 minutes for the superhub to do its internal registering or what ever it does before you can get a working connection. The only thing I have to do during that 10 minutes is wait

There is one error in Virgin's instructions though. Having followed the instructions which came with the hub, I switched the hub on and then rang Virgin, only to be told that I had to switch it off whilst they sent the activation signal.

Hi Sweet

Fanks

Oh! me and washing? Well that's a new one

I hope you are enjoying your day off notwithstanding the washing

Moonie

By the way, although I don't pay more each month to Virgin, I do get charged a one-off ÂĢ5-99 for the superhub. If I had asked for an engineer to come and do the installation I would have been charged something like an extra ÂĢ40 or ÂĢ50 but I knew I would be able to do it myself.

Although Virgin do say this when they inform you of the availability of the upgrade, on their website about it they don't mention the engineer cost, just the ÂĢ5-99. Link to their page

Hmmm 'economical with the truth' comes to mind El

I would have needed an engineer

Moonie, I'm glad you're feeling better and are back with us.

El, well done on setting up the hub by yourself. We had to have the engineer do ours.

Summer and Squiggle, I also enjoy sunny weather but prefer to sit in the shade.

We have had wet and windy weather today, so my plans to take PB to the park had to be put on hold. She has been birdwatching again - granny's blackbirds have eaten so many raisins that they're going to need to go to Avian Weightwatchers!

I too have Virgin and am really happy with the service and speeds. Been with them for years now.

My download speed is 100Mb and the upload speed is around 5Mb.

I have my computers wired into the hub as I find the speed a lot quicker.

I would recommend Virgin to anyone in a cable area.

Edit:  I recently phone them up and renegotiated the package.

I dropped the TV, kept the phone line and increased the broadband speed from 60MB to 100Mb.

I then got the price down from ÂĢ42 per month to ÂĢ28 per month, just by negotiating. Everyone should do it.

We are with Virgin, and also negotiated a reduction (well, Mr Yogi did, I'm rubbish at stuff like that).

The blackbirds have become very smart. When we are in the kitchen, they come onto the window ledge and look in, but now, if we aren't in the kitchen, they come to the livingroom back window and when PB spots them she shouts "birdies" and we have to go feed them raisins.

I can just imagine the blackbirds thinking, "where's the kid with the food?"

She really does love her birdies - maybe she's a budding ornithologist?
