That's a lovely cute little goodnight owl Summer - aww   I am glad you were able to have a good catch-up moonie   EL I know you are going to love Cranford, there's everything in it, drama, comedy, tragedy, you are in for a real treat   I hope your plans work out just fine Yogi, the happy expression on the dog's face made me chuckle too

I hope it's very good cake for that long a walk Summer, and that there will be lovely views and good weather.  I don't know where the coin came from, I was showing it to my eldest grandson yesterday and he thinks his gramps might have found it perhaps when he was a boy.

Similar weather to yours down here EL, I am making the most of the last few good days.

Enjoy your day everyone

I just had to share this

Our 14-year-old dog Abbey died last month. The day after she passed away my 4-year-old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so, and she dictated these words:

Dear God,

Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.

I hope you will play with her. She likes to swim and play with balls. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her you will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.

Love, Meredith

We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.

Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, 'To Meredith' in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies.' Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:

Dear Meredith,

Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help and I recognized her right away.

Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.

Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I'm easy to find. I am wherever there is love.

Love, God

Aw that's so touching I honestly look at bramble every day and know she's not going to be here forever, so I appreciate every day, every walk and every moment that I have with her. I feel blessed that she is with me
That little girl was so grown up in a spiritual way, she'll probably love all her future pets and give them wonderful lives

I'm using the Wimbledon app to keep up to date with scores

I've done some work but it's been easy today so far

I probably won't watch the England game Sweet because there's nothing to play for except pride and they have shown precious little of that so far

I have been watching Wimbledon on the telly

Glad you're able to get updates

You don't need to work to hard whilst you are *getting back into the swing of things* after your hols

Good afternoon all.

I took Keira to the vets for her booster jabs. Although she was quite stressed and panting, there was no repetition of her frantic behaviour last time, when they ended up having to put a soft muzzle on her! Vet said she is in good health but could do with losing a couple of kilos - so extra walks and slightly less food for the next few months. Tbh, I could see that she had packed on a few pounds over the winter - I blame the awful weather, which curtailed both the length of our walks and their frequency.

The app is live though so I can see the scores as they change

I'm going to watch plenty of it tomorrow!

What's for tea then?

At least you re getting the scores Sweet. I hope you enjoy your day of tennis tomorrow

Not decided on tea yet

I am so glad that Keira wasn't so stressed this time, so upsetting to see a dear member of the family going through stress for something you know has to be done.  I am sure she will soon walk off those extra pounds.

It was awful last time, she was so distressed.

I think it helped that today's vet was a sweet young woman, rather than a big burly man.

The surgery is an open one with no appointments, and they have several vets who seem to work on a rota system, but if she is on duty I will ask if we can see her.
