Good morning everyone

Skylark, my temporary fix for the quoting problem which I've posted elsewhere is this.

Highlight the text you wish to quote, then press Ctrl-C to copy. Then in the Post Reply box, where you wish to quote, first type "Quoted from " user name, then press Ctrl-V to paste the text you copied. The text appears as part of your comment which is why it's best to start it with Quoted from.

Afternoon everyone.    It was very frosty here this morning but the sun is shining now, although it's still very cold.

Finished wrapping all my Christmas presents so that just leaves the food shopping next week and then I will be ready.  While I was wrapping the presents in the kitchen I had just one bar of my halogen heater on and I was as warm as toast.  Good investment I think.  Will save me having to order more oil every couple of months!!

Another lovely picture Squiggle.  Sorry to hear that you have had troubles with your little visitor Skylark.  As Squiggle said, you must remind her that she will be on Santa's naughty list if she's not careful.

The wee one has now decide to have a nap!
She must be exhausted

I hope the news about Tesco, Sainsburys and others halting taking online orders for things other than groceries because they can't guarantee delivery by Christmas isn't going to be a major problem for you or Yogi. It is of course because of a huge backlog caused by the bad weather.

That's good news Joyron

You remember yesterday I mentioned about the error in the quiz question re Harvey the Rabbit being in It's a Wonderful Life. I noticed there's a thread about favourite Christmas films, and quite a few go for IAWL as you would expect. Anyway I thought if I could locate where the error came from and I tracked it down to a Christmas quiz which was posted on some forum.

The actual question was "In the inspirational 1946 film, It's a Wonderful Life, what's the name of George Bailey's guardian angel?", Some bright spark posted "Harvey the Rabbit", and it's obvious that our question setter did not read further as the forum setter later replied "No". No-one came up with the answer and I won't give any prizes to anyone who can answer that .

I'm not going to post a link to that website, because the quiz was never fully completed and there is the type of language there which would get us banned on this forum if we used it.

I forgot to post one of the quiz questions we were asked.

In total, over the 12 nights of Christmas, how many gifts in the song were given? Just a total, no need to work out how many of each type.

Without doing a search on the internet, or using a calculator or computer how many do you think?

I'll either confirm when someone posts a correct number (when I see the post), or if no-one gets it, I'll post the answer some time tomorrow.
(and what what the question master thinking of when he asked this question at about 10.30 pm after a christmas meal)

No prize for me but I if I recall right I think the guardian angel in IAWL was Clarence?

I go Clarence too

You are right, it was Clarence. . I said that I wouldn't give prizes to anyone, but you are not anyone, you are squiggle and Skylark  , and so here are your prizes

They are boxes of guardian angel feathers to keep you safe and warm, and you can share these with everyone.

I can see where you get 78 from, but although you are on the right track, it's not the correct answer.

Evening all.
I'm sorry I haven't been around. I've had one of those days when I've taken one step forward, then two steps back.
I have managed to order some more Christmas presents - I just hope they arrive in time.

El Loro, I think I know the answer to your Twelve Days Of Christmas question. Is it 364?
There were 12 partrides, 22 doves, 30 hens, 36 calling birds, 40 gold rings, 42 geese, 42 swans, 40 maids, 36 ladies, 30 lords, 22 pipers and 12 drummers, which makes 364 in total. I had to sing the song a dozen times to get this answer, so it had better be right.

Joyron, I hope you enjoy your meal with hubby.

Good morning everyone

And I can confirm that Yogi is correct with 364 gifts. Congratulations to you and to everybody else for trying

The way I did it was:
1
1+2=3
3+3=6
6+4=10
10+5=15
15+6=21
21+7=28
28+8=36
36+9=45
45+10=55
55+11=66
66+12=78 (which is the number of gifts given on the 12th day)

Then total the totals 1+3+6+10+15+21+28+36+45+55+66+78 = 364
It's strange that the number of days in a year less 1 is 364.

1 Yes, 26 December, both of you got that
2 Yes, Jacob Marley, Yogi got that
3 Outstanding
4 Yes, Norway, Skylark got that
5 Yes, Nine ladies dancing, Yogi got that. There may be another version with 9 maids in a row, but I'm not aware of that one.
6 Skylark, the answer given does not include Rudolph as one of the 8 reindeer in the original, surprisingly enough. Dancer, Prancer, Cupid, Comet and Blitzen are correct, but there are three outstanding.
7 Yes, God rest ye merry gentlemen is correct, Yogi got that
8 Outrstanding
9 Yes, mistletoe berries are white. Skylark got that. Yogi, you were thinking of holly berries.
10 Yes, Clarence, both of you got that
11 Skylark is right with Caspar, but the other two are outstanding
12 Yes, Hogmanay, both of you got that, not surprisingly
13 Outstanding, it's not Christmas pudding
14 Outstanding, it's not 1980
15 Outstanding, it's not Russia. I will accept either of 2 countries as there is some question over exactly where he came from
16 Outstanding
17 Outstanding
18 Yes, Rabbie Burns, not surprisingly you both got that
19 Outstanding, 10 is not correct
20 Yes, panattone is correct, Skylark got that

So the score at present is you both got 7 and Skylark has partial answers on 2 others
