I agree with everything you said, Squiggle.

We've been having thunder, on and off, for the last two hours.

*night owls*

What a busy day! Work was non stop, and will Robinson prevented me from coming on the forum after. So I walked bramble, had tea and then watched game of thrones.

I'm glad to see squiggle's grandson is doing well, he must be doing everything right if the consultant is pleased
I'm glad someone helped you at the tip, that's the kind of thoughtfulness I like to see

El, wow, you're a hero and you don't even remember it yourself! Thank goodness you did alert your mother to the fire I bet she sang your praises for years for it

Yogi I hope your thunderstorm was refreshing, and that you haven't done too much ironing

Moonie I hope you had a good day too

Sweet dreams all hopefully I'll catch you tomorrow
Leaving hugs for our absent friend
~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone

Some rain here overnight, forecast to be dry this morning, then very showery for the rest of the day.

The forecast for tomorrow morning is dry and sunny so my visit to that client in Hereford shouldn't be as wet as the forecast had been.

Summer, I hope Will Robinson isn't making a return. Yogi, the chances are that the thunder was causing your internet problems.

Off to the dental hygienist shortly.

El Loro

Good morning everyone, quite chilly here this morning.  The boiler engineer is coming to assess the site for the new boiler.

I liked the advert EL, odd but quite appealing, hope all goes well with the dental hygienist, such a lovely feeling afterwards.

I ordered one last plant (from eBay) a shrub I have grown before, Chaenomeles Japonica, flowering quince, which should nicely fill the last little hole on the slope.

I hope you manage to dodge any showers today

I had to google it, what a gorgeous shrub.

I hope your teeth feel lovely now

Aww, at least you have the Bank Holiday to look forward to.

El, it sounds like the kind of party that people are glad they weren't invited to.

Good morning everyone

Sunny here and no rain forecast for my visit to the client in Hereford. I'm glad I'm going today rather than tomorrow as heavy rain is forecast.

An Inspector Calls (Alastair Sim) is being shown again on Film4 this morning at 11.00. Just mentioning it in case Yogi is interested as she was on holiday last week.

Films4Men (now on Freeview but not mentioned in the Radio Times listings) shows mainly war films and action films many of which are not worth watching. But this Friday at 5.25 they are showing a 1954 film Robinson Crusoe. My television guide gives very little information about this but I think it may be of interest. I think it is the version made by Luis Bunuel who was one of the major directors of world cinema. He was Spanish, emigrated as a result of the Spanish Civil War and eventually settled in Mexico. Robinson Crusoe is his one film made in English and some reviews do rate this film highly. The film was made in Mexico on a low budget and I understand that although the film is in colour it's a bit washed out. So don't expect the technical quality of a 1950s Hollywood big budget action film but it should be worth trying.

Not to be confused with the 1964 television series which had one of the best themes ever and is a classic:

El Loro

Good morning everyone, hope your trip to Hereford goes well EL.

That theme tune is nice but it wasn't my favourite.  As kids we loved the Robin Hood theme, 'Robin Hood Robin Hood riding through the glen' which we used to sing with gusto.  One of my favourite stories was of an organist at a wedding at about the time of the film 'Robin Hood Prince of Thieves' was popular with the haunting 'Everything I Do I Do It For You' theme.  Well the young couple requested the Robin Hood theme for their exit from church and the organist must have been of my generation because he misunderstood and played happily away to 'Robin Hood Robin Hood riding through the glen'

Yogi this plant buying is very addictive isn't it?  I hope I have reined myself in now but there are soooo many lovely plants out there

Enjoy your day everyone.

lol Squiggle, the story of the organist playing the wrong Robin Hood theme at a wedding, is the first thing I think of when I hear 'Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding through the glen'.

I bought some plants to put in the hanging basket outside the back door and some more herbs, and another dianthus, because I have a bit of an obsession with dianthus/carnations - I adore the scent and they remind me of my paternal grandmother's garden.

Squiggle, I liked that song, wasn't it no 1. In the charts for a long time..?

Enjoy your picnic lunch, Summer.

I did have a good sleep, thank you.

El, I hope your trip is a fruitful one.

I am recording An inspector Calls on Film4+1.

I love the scent of carnations too.  I never understand why some people are so snobby about them, I think they are pretty and smell divine.

My photinia came, I could not have afforded that size of plant in our local garden centre.  It's in a 33 litre container and is about 5ft tall, in our local garden centre it would have been double the price.

I'm back from my visit to the client in Hereford. The journey took longer both ways because of the quantity of road works but apart from that it was OK.

That song from R H P of T was number 1 for 16 weeks in the UK making that a record at that time.

Squiggle, I agree that the Robin Hood TV series theme is great
