I've just taken the television aerial cable out of the socket in case the aerial gets hit by lightning.

Oh dear I hope it's not heading down here EL, it's a beautiful afternoon at the moment.
Very good news about Cheltenham Town. They have beaten Mansfield away by two goals to nil. cheltenham hadn't been doing well in recent weeks and had been drifting down towards the teams at risk of relegation.
However with two games left of the season the result means that it is now mathematically impossible for Cheltenham to be relegated. It is so close at the bottom of the table that any of the eight teams below them are ar risk of being relegated
Squiggle, I don't think your area is at risk. The thunder isn't so bad now as a few minutes ago. Looking at the Met Office rain map the risk of torrential rain remains in my area for another couple of hours before it starts to ease.
Good morning everyone
Although it remained wet last evening there was no further thunder here. I'm not aware that the thunderstorm caused problems but it was very close. The gap between the lightning and the subsequent thunder was very short. If you take the number of seconds, divide by 5, that gives the number of miles where the lightning struck. I think it likely that the lightning struck one of the tall trees in the playing field near by.
Very cloudy and mirky here, no rain at present.
Moonie, I hope your bolier gets sorted either today or tomorrow.
Good morning everyone. Weather is dry but pretty chilly.
Apologies for conking out last night and not saying goodnight. I seem to be waking up really early, which means I get tired really early at night.
Summer, those puppies sound adorable! I'm surprised you didn't go home with one in your pocket.
Yikes El, that lightning was quite close to you then! I don't mind thunder but I don't like lightning.
Moonie, I hope you are coping okay without the boiler and that the council get their act together and fix it today.
Have a good day, everyone.
Good morning everyone, very drizzly here but I am quite pleased because my grandson finished preparing the slope yesterday and it will take the goodness into the soil. There was one huge root he couldn't shift, right down at the bottom but I think if we plant just above it the plant will grow and cover that bit, that's the plan anyway.
I am standby for boiler inspection they are going to assess me for a free boiler this morning, here's hoping. Moonie I hope you are managing to keep warm, I bet you are fed up with boiling kettles, I know I was when my boiler kept breaking down. Hopefully now the Easter break is over with the workmen will be able to get on quickly
Yogi now you have the perfect excuse for another visit to the garden centre. I have even ordered some plants online. My grandson was cutting down those invasive raspberry plants yesterday and we spotted a corner which could do with brightening so I went online and spotted the perfect shrub. I thought what are the chances of the garden centre having that in stock, and as the price was really reasonable even with courier delivery less than the garden centre would charge I ordered it. It is this one Exochorda Macrantha (the Bride Pearl bush) the second picture is from Jackson Nurseries where I ordered it from
the foliage close up
I am sure you will do brilliantly at Harry Potter Summer, better than me, but there are so many categories you never know what you might do well in. Isn't it fun?
Have a great day everyone
Squiggle, that is a beautiful shrub. So many flowers, and they look so pretty and delicate.
Edit to add: I hope you get the go-ahead for the new boiler.
Squiggle, I hope you have a successful boiler inspection this morning.
That looks an attractive shrub
He's gone He was here for ages, he's been over every inch of the house, taken photos of the electricity meter, gas meter and heaven knows what else. Just wait and see now.

I've got my fingers crossed that they let you have a new boiler.

So do I
I'm not going to it and it's too late now to book a place but this park and slide event in Bristol is a bit different and sounds like fun:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-27103714
Anyone who has been along Park Street will know that this is perfect for the event as it must be one of the steepest main roads in a town in the country.
That looks like fun EL
I wouldn't be surprised if it gets mentioned on the local news when it happens.
I wouldn't mind a go on that slide, El.
I'm about to start a new book but can't decide whether I want to read another crime thriller or something lighter. Decisions, decisions.
No Moonie today? I hope he got his boiler fixed.
If I disappear without warning, you'll know I've conked out again. Having lovely lavender baths might not be helping my sleepyitis.
Nodding off, so I'll say goodnight and sweet dreams. Hugs for the night owls.
night yogi and summer sorry not said night - have had pooter probs
Good morning everyone
Fairly cloudy here, dry morning forecast turning wet later.
Moonie, I hope your boiler got repaired yesterday or, if not, it gets sorted today.
Good morning everyone, it's still drizzly here. Off soon to M & S for a little stock up (and maybe cake ) what does everyone fancy? I thought a lemon muffin, with a delicious lemony bit inside, a cherry and almond tart and maybe some eclairs?
The bride pearl bush is on it's way and I ordered a fireball rhododendron from the same nursery too, beautiful.
Moonie I hope they manage to get your boiler fixed today.
Enjoy your day everyone
Squiggle, those cakes sound nice
Have you tried these from M&S? You can get boxes of 2 Cherry Bakewells. I'm not referring to the boces of ones with icing and a cherry on top. These are square, a franzipane filling, black cherry jam and topped with flaked almonds. They are quite expensive but they are exceptionally nice.
Good morning, everyone. Weather is cloudy and raining.
Squiggle, the fireball rhododendrum is a striking plant. Your garden is going to look beautiful.
Moonie, I do hope your boiler is now sorted and you have heating and hot water again.
Summer, sorry I missed you last night. I will try to stay awake until at least 10pm tonight.
El, I agreed with your take on last night's Eastenders. I haven't watched the programme for 18 months but that episode was worth watching.
Off to the hospital, will be back later.
Morning Buddies
Update...
Still no hot water/central heating
Rang the council this morning. They couldn't even tell me if the part for my boiler had been ordered. They where going to *e-mail* the central heating(boiler) department to try and find out. So it looks like I will be down the council tomorrow morning *bumping heads*
I will let you know if anything in the way of repairs occurs over the next few days.
Moonie, I'm not surprised you are livid. Your council needs to get its act together fast and sort this out.

They sound lovely EL, I will look out for those.
I hope all goes well at the hospital Yogi. That's so frustrating moonie, I hate the way you always have to chase to get things moving. Good luck.
Thanks El and Squiggle
My council are at best useless
Yogi, I hope your hospital appointment goes well
Afternoon all. My hospital appointment went okay. the nurse has pinpointed the cause of the spasms and vomiting, and I have already made a few changes to my diet which seems to have eased the problem - but I can have medication to help if things get bad again. More bloods were taken as they think I may need Vitamin B12 injections, although my ferritin levels are fine.
Moonie, I'm not surprised you are fed up and angry with the council. How long do they expect you to do without heating and hot water? It's ridiculous!
Squiggle, those M&S lemon muffins are lovely and I'll need to try the cherry bakewells that El mentioned.
Hi Summer. I'm guessing it's your day off? Happy lazing to you and Bramble.
Yogi, I'm glad they've been able to identify the cause of your spasms etc and are able to control it
Yogi, I'm glad they've been able to identify the cause of your spasms etc and are able to control it
Thanks El. The nurse and I had noticed there was a definite pattern developing prior to the spasms and vomiting, and that helped to find the cause.
I've actually got to add some foods that I usually avoid, such as a slice of wholemeal bread or some weetabix or a slice of cheese. I had already started making these changes in the past month or so and it does seem to be helping.
I couldn't imagine you 'wasting' Easter eggs somehow.
Afternoon again Buddies
Firstly, am more importantly, Yogi, I'm glad they managed to help you sort your problem out at the hospital. Hopefully with dies but if not medication
Now, just had a call from the council to say they have the part for my boiler and are coming to fix it tomorrow, between 8.00am and 4.00pm
Guess you can tell i'm happy
