*night owls*

Evening all I hope you had a good afternoon. I can't believe it's that time of year again when El goes to the middle of nowhere.

My eye test went well, no need to alter my driving glasses.
Then I skyped my mum, who looks great. Retirement suits her
Then I called my brother for a catch up, he's doing great too.
Then I had a bath!

Hi Sweet

I'm glad you eye test went well

You have had a busy 'family' afternoon too

Followed by a bath to relax too

Moonie

Hi Summer. Glad all went well at the opticians.

I know it's early days but has your mum settled into her retirement?

I'm pleased your brother is doing well.

Eldest son phoned me tonight to ask if I will go to his house tomorrow to wait on their new sofas being delivered. I think I'll be sitting on a dining chair while I wait - numb bum day!

It would need to be a big one!

I'm going too, Summer. I'll need to be up early and get organised before I go to son's house. Goodnight and sweet dreams, Summer and Moonie.

Ros, night owl hug.

Goodnight Yogi. Sleep well and hope the sofas come early. Sweet dreams

Moonie

Thanks Summer, my house group today, it should be good

I hope your journey is trouble-free EL and Yogi I hope the delivery guys are punctual and your cushion prevents numb bum

I have some plants (hebes) that have got too old on the sloping bit of my garden so I am getting my grandson to come and dig 'em up and next week we are going to the garden centre!  I was thinking that a rhododendron or two should go nicely there.  I think they were originally grown on the slopes of the Himalayas, maybe I could squeeze in an Azalea too

Have a good day everyone.

I'm back from my journey to Hereford with the client's accounting records which will keep me busy over the next couple of weeks. The journey was reasonably straightforward though it's not a route I particularly like. I take the A40 from Gloucester to Ross on Wye. Before it gets to Huntley it goes through a tiny village called Birdwood. It brings back sad memories of someone who I knew well at church whose daughter was killed there in a car accident caused by someone driving too fast. The daughter was in the late stages of pregnancy

The speeder got away with it and although caught avoided a prison sentence.

The road between Huntley and Ross is full of bends and drivers have to be really alert when driving. Just after Ross I take the A49 to Hereford. Straighgtforward route. There is a steep bend to watch out for and you need to be careful as otherwise you go go over the edge of the road on what looks to be a really steep drop. Although there wasn't a lot of traffic, when I got to Hereford itself, it becomes a slow crawl. First 29 miles took about 40 minutes, next 4 miles about 20 minutes.

@ those smileys, Moonie. I was running about like a mad woman, trying to get everything done before I had to go out.

That is so sad, El, and atrocious that the speeding driver got away with it.

Son and DiL's sofa and (huge) chair arrived around 2pm so I was able to do my grocery shopping on the way home.

I'm glad you were freed from sofa duty by 2pm and get your shopping done

That's understandable, as she was robbed of her daughter and grandchild in one fell swoop.
