Hi Sweet Fankoo

Have you had a good day?

Moonie

Good morning, everyone. Weather is dry atm.

I will be waiting in today for a delivery. They have given me a delivery time of 7am - 8pm. Surely they could give a narrower window than that! Knowing my luck, they won't appear until 8pm.

As I will be stuck at home, I will try to get some weeding done - as long as it stays dry.

Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning Yogi The weather is dry here to right now but I just looked at the weather forecast and we are promised rain this afternoon

Not the narrowest of time lines, is it? I am the same when it comes to having council workers come to do a job. Invariably its towards the later end of the time lime. Good luck with the weeding

Fairly cloudy here, dry at present but there are showers forecast.

I hear that sand is in the forecast today and tomorrow but gone by Friday. The Met Office site indicates in my area that it's at a level of 6 but other areas are higher.

Hi El

The sand is coming from the Sahara, isn't it?

Moonie

Good morning everyone, well I've never heard of a sand alert before   Yogi they are bound to come just when you have sat down from weeding too, never fails.

They are kind enough to bring my prescriptions from the chemist and on Monday the guy literally arrived about 1 minute after my grandson left

No the tooth is not sore thank you Summer, my dentist is so gentle and careful there wasn't even a hint of pain, and no injection needed.

Have a great day everyone

Morning Squiggle

Pity about the meds for your grandson

Glad your tooth is not sore today

Moonie

Moonie, yes, the sand is coming from the Sahara.

Squiggle, it's the first time I've heard of a sand alert too. I don't know why they have put out the alert as this isn't that unusual. We tend to get Saharan sand a few days most years and generally I know about it as cars which are parked outside get filthy windscreens as a result. The alert is for people with asthma and other conditions. It may have been given higher profile than normal as the alerts in the past would have been on the Defra website but is now given on the gov.uk website.

Good morning

Ugh, yogi I hope your delivery arrives soon, I hate waiting around like that. Especially as you can't go have a shower or put the Hoover on in case you don't hear the door

How unusual to hear of sand alerts, I had no idea. I wonder if any of us will get a covering?!

Mr summer has my car today as his is in for it's MOT, I had it washed yesterday but I doubt it will come home so clean lol add a layer of sand to it and I'll wonder why I bothered..
~Sparkling Summer~

I've just been out doing a spot of local shopping and it was obvious that there is sand in the air as the car was not clean. I washed the windows with a sponge and bucket of water as using the windscreen wipers to clean the windows would have made the wipers filthy.I'll need to wash the car in a couple of days when the sand risk has gone as it would be a waste of time doing that now.

El Loro

I have done all the weeding my back can cope with for one day. I've tidied up all of the borders in the front garden but I know I will have missed a few weeds and I'll need to spend some more time getting those out, at a later date.

I hope you are right, Squiggle, and my delivery will arrive soon. *crosses fingers*

Good luck to Mr Summer with his car's MOT. I hope it sails through.

A sand alert?!  I'd be furious if I'd washed my car yesterday.

El, when you have something like sand on your car you have to be careful when washing it off that you don't damage the paintwork, don't you?

It's probably similar to when in winter salt on roads has made cars dirty. I would just use lots of soapy water.

Aww, that's a shame that you have had to go in on your day off, but as you say, she was helpful when you were poorly. Is it the same bug as you had?

Yogi19

Aww that is a shame Summer, I hope your colleague feels better soon, it's nice that you can all be there for each other.

Good luck with the turf laying moonie, one of my lawns is very sickly and it has even crossed my mind how nice it would look with artificial grass.  To explain it is directly under 2 huge conifer trees which shed acid needles all year round and of course it is terribly shady.  Some friends of mine have a Greenkeepers Service and I asked him to call a couple of weeks ago.  He measured all my lawns but said he wouldn't even bother to measure that one 'because you will never get a lawn to grow in those conditions'.  It turns out that he is actually cheaper to use - he comes 4 times a year to weed, feed, kill the moss etc - than to buy that Evergreen Complete stuff. Amazing!

I hope your parcel delivery arrives soon Yogi and that you can get your car nice and clean again EL when the threat of more sand has gone.
