Manoel de Oliveira is a Portuguese film director who has made quite a number of films. His most recent film released in 2012 was O Gebo e Sombra. Although I hadn't heard of him or that film, the film does star Michael Lonsdale, Claudia Cardinale and Jeanne Moreau who you are more likely to have heard of.

You are wondering why am I posting this

When he made that film he was 103 years old  He's still active trying to get the funds to make his next film.

The only thing I know about Tom Mix is that he wore a very big hat, I think

Tucked away in the television schedules is the 1930 classic All Quiet on the Western Front. (ITV4 00.15 am very early tomorrow morning). This would be showing because of the centenary of the start of WW1 this year. This is the definitive anti-war film and is unusually for an American film told from the viewpoint of the young German recruits in the first World War. This is the Lew Ayres version rather than the lesser remake with Richard Thomas.

Obviously it's as serious a film as has ever been made and the final scene makes the film one of the most powerful and greatest films of all time and one that you will never forget. Why it's being tucked away on ITV4 at midnight when it should be being shown at peak time on BBC1 or ITV1 I don't know.

I've set the V+ to record it for hubby, thanks El.

How's your day been yogi?
We're waiting for the Prince Harry/South Pole documentary

Did you give her a blow dry with the hairdryer?

My day has been lazy relaxing.

I'm watching a programme about lambing on BBC2. I have no idea why I'm watching it.

Lol bramble won't let me near her with a hairdryer, she would rather try to bite it! She occasionally lets me blow her face with the dryer from a distance, but definitely won't let me dry her back. Silly girl

Aw I like that ad too

I saw lambs today, they're adorable

Any why not Sweet. Its all that walking and Bramble washing that's done it

Keira doesn't like the hairdryer, but she will let me do it - although I sometimes have to follow her around the room.

I can see that in my minds eye Yogi

I'm usually on my knees as I do it.

We've put the Truman show on, I've always liked this film, it's so unique

I feel sorry for the people who work in the dog pounds, they hate having to put healthy dogs down, but they don't have room for all of them.

I've never seen that film, Summer.
