Good morning everyone. Weather is wild outside, very windy and threatening to rain.

Summer, it is important that you have some lunch, so ignore your customer.

Flying visit before I go off to the hospital and then hubby is taking me out for lunch. I have visitors coming in the evening, so I will pop in when I can.

Have a good day.

Summer, all though the Working Time Regulations apply to employees they do say that where the working period is longer than 6 hours workers are entitled to a minimum of a 20 minute uninterrupted rest break. Studies have shown that where people work long hours without a break there is a greater of errors and that workers become less productive.

So that customer is wrong. If you didn't take a lunch break you would get tired out, slow down and start making mistakes. "Oops, sorry, I've just cut off your ear."

Squiggle, I hope all goes well at the dentist

El Loro
Exactly El and seeing as we frequently get busier later in the day when the schools finish, and sometimes end up finishing later than closing time, I think it's incredibly important to have lunch!
Skipping it would make us weak, grumpy and lacking in concentration.
I've also no doubt at all that I someone came in and got a poor quality haircut, they wouldn't say "oh that poor lady hasn't eaten all day isn't she amazing!" They would simply say I'm a terrible hairdresser...
I'm grateful to be in demand, but I certainly won't be skipping lunch

Squiggle, good luck at the dentist today
~Sparkling Summer~

What a morning!  The car wouldn't start, turns out the tailback of the car had been left slightly open and the courtesy light drained the battery.  I called the AA and he diagnosed the problem and said I had to run it into my garage and get them to put it on bench charge for about 5-6 hours.  So I didn't make my dental appointment but I still had to get in there for my grandson's one, about an hour later.  The AA man was so nice, he followed me down to the garage and ran me to the dentist and my friend ran me home from there.  The car will be brought back for me later too and I have a new dental appointment for the week after next. Thank goodness for lovely helpful people

squiggle

Squiggle, as you say, what a morning. It was nice of the AA man to help you out like that. On my car, if any of the doors, including the tailgate one, isn't fully shut, either the car won't lock properly (I tend to double check) or after some time the alarm starts.

I have now got my new computer. I'm in the process of setting it up. As the cable modem I have only has one wired connector I will need to vanish off the internet for a time. Hopefully, if all goes well, I'll be back later on the new computer.

Eeeeeugh I feel poorly I've got sick bug. I was absolutely fine this morning! Luckily I'm at home anyway so I'm just laying down.

Squiggle, Crikey, what a carry on! I'm glad the problem was that rather than a fault with the car, the AA man sounds very nice and helpful. Hope your car is soon back with you

Moonie, that's a rotten job but well done for doing it I  hope you can relax now

El, I hope you are having great fun with your new computer

Hi Sweet
Yep, I have me head around it now Sweet
I very rarely use Windows 8 because I have another operating system on as well. I find it better than Windows 8

And yep am relaxing now
I hope your day is going well and no more silly comments from silly customers

I hope you have eaten today too

Hi, I'm back

The setup was a bit tricky as I couldn't get any display to start with. There's 2 identical connectors on the computer. One is for the inbuilt graphics board, the other is for the better graphics board. I had it in the one for the inbuilt one which of course has been disabled by the better one.

I also had to set up the internet connections options so that I could get online. I had already looked into what needed to be done and printed that off. So that made it a simple job.

Now I can start getting used to the computer.

Well done El

You are better than I am. I had to have mine set up for me

Moonie

A quick visit before my visitors start arriving. Hospital visit went well. Specialist nurse thinks my medication needs tweaking so he has done some blood and other tests and I return to see him next month for the results and new meds.

Had a lovely lunch with hubby. We went into Glasgow and did a bit of shopping, then had lunch in a really nice Italian restaurant which had been recommended. It lived up to expectations.

Squiggle, isn't it nice when people go out of their way to be helpful? The world would be a better place if there were more people like your AA man.

Summer, I hope you feel better soon and thank you for starting my birthday thread.

Moonie, good to have you back and glad you are feeling better.

El, congratulations on the new computer. I hope setting it up is trouble free and quick.

Edit: that was quick, El, you were back by the time I had finished typing my post.

I'd be the same, Moonie. That's what my sons are for.

Really pleased you and Mr Yogi had lovely meal

Have a super rest of the day when your guests arrive. Happy Birthday once again Yogi

Fankoo muchly

Aww, thank you. Off to see to visitors, will be back later tonight.

Yogi19

I am glad it all went well at the hospital, and they sound as if they are on the right track.  I hope the blood tests are all OK.

Oh Summer that's awful, I hope you feel better really quick.  In a way it's good that you weren't at work but still it's unpleasant to have your day off spoiled

Well done EL, enjoy exploring all the capabilities of your new pooter.

PS  I am glad your day has gone so well Yogi, Italian food is my favourite, I hope your evening is lovely.

It's an ASUS high-end i5 computer. 8 Gb of memory which is quite a lot. The internal hard drive is 1 Tb and I also have a 2 Tb external drive. That is quite a lot of hard drive capacity  I tend to go for high memory and drive capacity as those help in keeping the computer fast even after several years of heavy use.

That sounds like a beast, El.

*night owls*

Aw cute owl sorry I didn't get back on earlier, I've been asleep. I feel much better than this afternoon hopefully it's a short bug.
I'm staying off tomorrow, the girls at work have made me because they don't want to catch it. I'm quite grateful to them, a rest day will be helpful

Yogi I'm very pleased you enjoyed your birthday you deserve a lovely time

El, your computer sounds amazing, I bet it feels fast

Squiggle I hope all is well with your car and that you sleep well tonight after all the drama

Moonie I hope you've had a good evening

Sweetest of dreams all

Good morning everyone. The weather has been wet and windy overnight and it's the same atm.

Moonie, I hope the lappy text size issue has been resolved.

Ros, I did have a lovely birthday, thank you.

Summer, I'm glad you are feeling a bit better and that you are having another day off work to recover properly.

I'm going grocery shopping later on and need to pop to the bank. Let's hope the rain has eased a bit before then.

Have a good day everyone.

Yogi19

Good morning everyone, it is windy here but so far no rain.  Yogi I hope the rain eases off before you have to go out.

Summer I am glad you feel a bit better now but please take it easy today.

EL it sounds like that new PC will be a big help to you.

I have just had 2 lads up quoting for everything that needs doing on the house.  They can replace the roof on the lean-to, clad the fascia, provide a new door and window and paint it as well.  They are lovely lovely lads, recommended by the son of a friend, who are both Christian, and both the lads are Christian too.  They were a joy to talk to and I really hope their quote is good, I have a good feeling about them.

Have a good day everyone.

squiggle

Squiggle. it's always best when workmen have been recommended by someone who know.
My late mother was conned by 2 workmen who came knocking on the door. They took her for some ÂĢ20k for work which should have been at most a quarter of that. My mother was in declining health and did not have the strength to be willing to do anything about it.

Just to note that I noticed your notice and have noted it down so that I can notify the notice to the local notary public

El Loro
that's notice is fab!

Morning all windy but dry here, I've opened my window a tiny bit to let some fresh air in.

I feel much better this morning, just a bit sore and tired (even though I've slept a lot!) I'm just going to rest today, I hope bramble won't mind the lack of a good walk.

I'm just about to watch the final episode of Cranford
