Yogi, I'm glad you had a much better night's sleep. Nice to have another PB and Harv day

Squiggle, you are right, it's forecast to be unsettled weather for our regions by Thursday/Friday. I've just done mowed my lawn for the first time this year as I wanted to do it whilst the weather is dry.

There is an old fashioned feel to "I Know where I'm going" which is one of its attractions. Its director Michael Powell, although a very English gentleman, was a citizen of the world (I'm quoting from the IMDB site). Most of his main films were written by Emeric Pressburger, a Hungarian Jew who came to this country just before the outbreak of WW2. Powell clearly was drawn to the Scottish islands (The Edge of the world - the Hebrides, Spy in Black - the Orkneys,I Know where I'm going - Isle of Mull).

El Loro

It seems that a sequel is going to be made to that Alice in Wonderland film, though not by Tim Burton. Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Mia Wasikowska (Alice) apaprently are in it. It's being described as based on Through the Looking Glass though that doesn't make sense. The Jabberwock and the Bandersnatch which were major characters in the first film come from "Through the Looking Glass", not "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland".

El Loro

I know that Tim Burton is currently working on a film called Dark Eye which is a biopic of the artist Margaret Keane. If you do a search on her paintings you may sense that they can have a gothic feel to them which could be why Burton was interested. Neither Johnny Depp or Helena Bonham Carter are involved with that film.

El Loro

Summer, it seems that Tim Burton is a collector of Margaret Keane's paintings and her work did influence the look of films such as Beetle Juice and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Big Eyes has a relatively small budget ($10m) compared to say Dark Shadows ($150m) and Alice in Wonderland ($200m) so it looks to likely to be a more personal and intimate film rather than a blockbuster. It's not the first biopic Burton has made as he made Ed Wood 20 years ago. I didn't like that film but there are many who regard it as his best film. I think he may have decided against having Helena Bonham Carter in the film as he didn't want the film to be seen as just the next Tim Burton blockbuster. Also she has an active film and television career outside his films.

Good morning everyone

It was sunny here first thing but it's clouding over now. There's a couple of hours rain forecast late morning. Should then be dry for the rest of the day and tomorrow should be OK. Thursay into the weekend looks as if it will be rather unsettled.

Yogi, I'm glad you had a great day yesterday

Good morning everyone, it's raining here too now, luckily I managed to top up the bird feeder before it started.  The birds are eating loads at the moment and I know the forecast is for it to be much colder towards the weekend.

Enjoy your quiet day Yogi.

This is a picture of sand, 240x magnification, isn't it amazing!

Extraordinary, squiggle  I would think virtually everyone assumes that sand is just sandy coloured and not such a variety of colours, shapes and different materials. I can see what look like a couple of tiny ammonites towards the left in the upper half, and that looks like the shell of a snail at the bottom just to the left of the middle.

If you had asked me I would have said that each piece would be identical and sort of sandy coloured.  And what's that bit that looks like a honeycomb?  I tell you this world is truly amazing.

Wow, I would never have guessed that's what sand looks like - and how beautiful it is.

Another busy day, but slightly less busy than yesterday. I have tomorrow off

I wonder how many uses we could think of for a grass verge!
I'd consider setting up a pancake stand and having a street fayre along all the other available space!

Yogi, good luck at your appointment tomorrow

Moonie, I hope you're feeling better

Sweet dreams everyone leaving hugs for absent friends

Well put moonie! That's exactly how I think. The other week one of my customers told me that I'd earn more money if I didn't bother with lunch, I told them that they were right but my health is more important than money.
I would get no thanks for skipping lunch, and I'd feel ill, so I make sure I get a break every day..

Oh I feel snoozy
