Morning

I tried to post last night but was it just wouldn't do it.
After work I went out for dinner and a few drinks with some girls, it's been a long time since I did that. We had a lovely time and mr summer kindly picked us all up and dropped everyone at home too

Night twirl squiggle I hope your hair feels fresh & fab!

Yogi I'm glad the move has gone well and that PB is a happy bunny, you deserve a restful day today now

El, how's the garden looking now?
~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone

Cloudy and windy here. It's supposed to be dry today but there's some light rain.

Summer, it seems that you weren't alone with posting problems last night but it doesn't seem to have affected everyone.

The shed and fencing in my back garden look considerably better than they did this time last week

The man who did my fencing told me of another customer's misfortune. The fence man had put up new fencing for him a couple of weeks ago at a cost of around ÂĢ1k. Then the storm on Friday 14th with wind gusting at 80mph had blown the lot down. Obviously an insurance job.

Good morning, everyone. It's wet and very windy, up here.

Summer, it seems that a few FMs had issues with the forum last night, Cosi started a thread about it.

Well done to Mr Summer for taxiing everyone home, and I'm glad you enjoyed your night out.

Mr Yogi and I are intending to have a quiet, relaxing day, but you know what they say about 'the best laid plans of mice and men'.

What a shame about the man's new fence, El. I hope his insurance company pays up and he can get it fixed.

Have a good day, everyone.

I'm back from church. It's still cloudy and windy but dry so far.

Yogi, I would think that the insurance company would pay out to that man whose fence blew down as they could not say that the fence was old and my client would have done a proper job of putting it up.

The church treasurer has given me the box of the church accounts papers for me to do my annual "independent examination" of her accounts. It's a straightforward exercise for me. She still uses the same accounting spreadsheet that I created over 20 years ago when I was the then treasurer.

Yogi, I was quite pleased with the church spreadsheet I created as I did a lot of macros in it so that it looks and works in a similar fashion to accounts packages such as Sage. It's not up to commercial standard but it does what it needs to and is easy to use. There's also some checking built into it so that it won't let you post something which doesn't balance.

Squiggle, that spreadsheet was quite complex as I was writing the macros in the Visual Basic which sits behind the normal Excel screen rather than just recording macros. This afternoon I'm amending one of the macros to add another minor function to help the church treasurer. I think I've done the basic coding needed and next I need to type in the coding. Then the fun and games begin when I try to run the code to see if it does what I want it to do.

OK you lost me after complex

After a minor bit of amending I've got that coding working and I've sent the revised spreadsheet to the treasurer for her opinion.

Back in the 80s computer magazines would have program coding listings for things such as little computer games which people had written. And you then typed the program listings on to yoour computer and then run and play the game. It was very popular in those days before games became more advanced. But it meant that people became more aware of programming.

Every single page on the web has programming code behind it.

If you are on Firefox, just right click on this page, then View Page Source and you will see the coding which is behind this page.

If you have a look at this site there's a very short example for a web page. If you follow the instructions shown you will find that it works and you've just become a website programmer

 Maybe later.

Knowing how totally useless I am with anything computer related, my late brother will be looking down on me, in complete and utter awe that I even know how to switch on a laptop and use an ipad.

 It is, for me.

BTW, my late brother was a systems analyst - he got all the maths based genes in our family.

evening *hobbles in slowly*

I've walked 16 1/2 miles! it's Bramble's new personal record too
I did a lovely 10m loop, drove home and had every intention of leaving Bramble at home for a nap, before carrying on. She decided to come with us, as mr summer joined me for an additional 6.5m! He's impressed with how much my fitness level has improved

Coding would baffle me, but I love spreadsheets- I have several for work
