Squiggle, there are spring tides a couple of days after both the new moon and the full moon so every 2 weeks. This next weekend is 2 weeks since the previous spring tide.

Though looking at various tide tables, the spring tide this next weekend does seem to be not as high as the one just over a week ago,

Thanks EL, with the current state of flooding, spring tides are the last thing that people need isn't it?
Afternoon Buddies
We have had torrential rain, snow and now sun & blue sky
I hope you safe and warm
I shall see you later. I think a nap this afternoon may prevent one this evening
Toodles

I agree
Afternoon Sweet
Decided not to go and have a nap. So went and paid a bill
How is your day going?
And me but it was either today or tomorrow and tomorrow is supposed to be very bad here. Glad you are having a quiet day glad your car is fixed
Yep all warmed up now
Fingers crossed the next spring tides are not as high as the last ones.
Yay, that your car is fixed, Summer. I hope it wasn't too costly.
Shame you missed out on your nap, Moonie but at least you got the bill paid.
You may remember hubby and I went out for lunch recently and the food was disappointing. Hubby contacted the company at the time and they apologised and got the manager to call us. We were given a voucher for another meal for two and went today. The manager apologised to us and said he knew we were regulars and not complainers and hoped we would enjoy our lunch. The food was lovely today, and the waiting staff and bar staff were great, as always. we'll happily go back again.
edit: weather here is windy, sleet, snow and hailstones!
Yogi, that's good news on that restaurant
After a sunny afternoon here it's clouded over and there's been a shower in the last few minutes. Tonight, there's the possibility of snow in my area but that will probably be at higher levels than where I live.
The Met Office have just released an updated long term weather forecast which does indicate that the weather improves for the south compared to what we've been getting.
The weather will remain generally unsettled but less severe than of late with brighter, showery interludes between spells of rain. There will be strong winds at times with a risk of gales, but mainly in exposure. Showers will be wintry over hills and perhaps to lower levels in the north of the UK at times. Temperatures will be around or a little below normal with an increasing risk of overnight frosts and ice in quieter, clearer spells. However, there will be occasional milder spells in the south. Towards the end of February the changeable weather looks set to continue, but with longer drier and brighter periods between bouts of rain and wind. As a result it may turn colder with an enhanced frost and ice risk.
Current indications point towards unsettled conditions persisting for much of this period but not as extreme as recently. The most likely scenario would see northwestern parts of the UK affected by the most frequent spells of unsettled and windy weather. Meanwhile southern and eastern regions should tend to see longer spells of drier and brighter weather than previous weeks, although still with some periods of rain. Temperatures are likely to be close to or slightly above the seasonal average, but with some colder periods possible, and the risk of local frost and ice, and hill snow, especially in the north.

That's a slight improvement, El.
Afternoon Buddies
Yogi, glad you had a good meal this time
Are you home now Sweet?
Great customer service from that restaurant, shows that they value you as customers. Well done them. I am glad you enjoyed your meal today.
Thanks for the long range weather forecast EL, it does sound as if it is slowly brightening. I just have to remember that in a couple of weeks it will be March and then Spring is just around the corner.
Oh! okay. I hope its sorted
Yep, I saw them Sweet
its a good job it was between carriage ways El
True, but what caused it and does it mean that the carriage ways could go the same way?

It could be a so called 'sink hole' or maybe an old mine shaft..
Several news websites are saying it is a 'sink-hole' El
I was wondering if it was squiggle's mole on the rampage

Evening Sweet and Buddies
Yeah, there was a case the other week when a guys car disappeared down a sink hole right outside his front window
Sometimes its the weather washing away the ground beneath. Sometimes old mine workings also affected by lots of rain too from what I can gather Sweet
Yep
Evening. I've been reading and lost track of time.
Those sink holes are very scary.

Hiya Yogi
Good book then?
Very scary
BOO!
I had my bath before I settled down with the book. It's on my kindle app and called The Hidden Cottage by Erica James. I needed a break from crime thrillers so this one was light and fluffy. It did have one sad bit though.
