Yogi, I will spread the shredding over many weeks. About 1.5 inches of paper = 1 bag of paper to go in the recycling box so approx 30 bags. So little chance of my shredder overheating. The shredder I have is more powerful than the ones that you or squiggle have so is a lot more robust. It can shred for 12 minutes continously at 14 pages a go. A top quality personal shredder would be more like to be at best continous use for 3 minutes at 6 pages a go. So at one go mine could do 168 sheets compared to a personal one which at best 18 sheets.

Mine is pretty basic and only takes a few sheets in one go and runs for 10 minutes or so. When it overheats, it cuts out and I have to wait a while before it will restart. TBH, I ought to do the shredding on a more regular basis, then I wouldn't have a problem.

Just what I was thinking, aha!  We have a bonfire for getting rid of garden rubbish I will have to remember to ask my grandsons to burn the paper for me instead - result!

 That's great, Squiggle.

You have reminded me of an episode of Ever Decreasing Circles, where the character of Martin was persuaded by his neighbour, Paul, to have a clear out as part of a relaxation programme. Poor Martin was having a fit at the thought of clearing out his precious files, which they burned in an incinerator for garden refuse.

The council has rules about which papers you can burn?!

My local council prohibits bonfires on business premises. Although I don't pay business rates, I do run my business from home (I've cleared that with my council). I don't know if the prohibition applies to me but I'm assuming that as it would be business papers that it does. I could hardly pass off 15,000 sheets of paper as personal

I loved that show I think for about the first 10-15 years of our marriage we didn't throw anything out at all

It's one off my all time favourite comedy shows. I loved Richard Briers as Tom in The Good Life, too.

I would tend to be a bit of a hoarder, while (as you may recall) hubby is a chucker.

Yes, it's PB day tomorrow. My middle son and DiL are coming for dinner and youngest son said he might pop in, so it's going to be a busy house.

I've ordered a curry, I'm hoping it might help get the germs to leave

Enjoy your bath and your curry. I reckon a good curry helps cure a cold.
