According to the Sun, the matches in the last 16 stage in the Euros are to be shown on these channels: The first each day being the earlier one (KO 17.00) and the second the later one (KO 20.00). ITV had first choice for the stage and for the semi-finals, BBC for the quarter-finals. BBC yet to update their tv schedules, ITV seems to have.

I don't suppose the Beeb mind too much about ITV getting the larger slice of the pie, as they've got Wimbledon to fill their schedule with ...another borefest!

An indication of how the BBC has declined is the amount of drama on BBC One in the lunchtime slot from Mondays to Fridays. There was the time where "Doctors" (30 minutes) was shown each day followed by various dramas (typically 40 minutes).
Then the 40 minute dramas were restricted to just Fridays, "Doctors" not shown on Fridays, and by the end of the year "Doctors" will be no more."Doctors" used to be a lot better than it is now and was important in providing an outlet for writers. It has serious implications for drama writers in this country.
So 350 minutes per week cut down to 40 minutes.

My Dad has mentioned how disappointed he is with 'Doctors' these days...he's been watching it since it began.
I wonder what they'll show in it's place...

I had watched "Doctors" for quite some time but gave up after it had deteriorated. There was the introduction of another doctor. I think the actress who played her was better than the quality of the character she played. Would have been more appropriate in one of those Carry On films. I think she's gone now. And the decision to kill off Karen made it pointless to carry on watching it. In the programme she was married to Rob (the main policeman) and their relationship was the strongest part of the programme. It was the actress's wish that this happened as she wanted a break rather than the producers. The actor and actress playing the couple did win the best partnership award in the Soap Awards both in the first year and the last year.

Yes, I remember when Karen was killed off...Dad was none too pleased either...I think he may have had a crush on her
It's a shame that the BBC put PC & Woke above ability to act...which in my view is why many shows deteriorate when new characters are brought in.

There was the Halloween special of "Doctors" on 31 October 2017 with a series of stories, the one with Emma and Karen being the highlight and is near genius.

Slim, little much new on the Talking Pictures tv channel during the coming week.There is a documentary on the films of Boris Karloff late Wednesday evening, Looing at the imdb article about this, it's a very good documentary covering his film career from 1919 to 1968. Also refers to a Spanish film called "The Spirit of the Beehive" which was made in 1973. In that film, a young girl sees the Boris Karloff film "Frankenstein" and she and her sister go off to find the monster. I've never seen that film but it is supposed to be very good.
Film 4 is showing "Norhing But the Best"(1964) on Thursday at 11.00am. It's a British black comedy, which has been described as "Room at the Top" reconstructed for laughs. Stars Alan Bates and Denholm Elliott, It's highly regarded by critics, though it;s not a film I've seen as I don;t think it would appeal to me,
BBC Two has "North by Northwest" this afternoon which you will have seen before. On a point of trivia, it was the 6th time Leo G Carroll was in an Alfred Hitchcock film ("Rebecca", "Suspicion", "Spellbound", "The Paradine Case" and "Strangers on a Train" being the first five).

I would be amazed if you hadn't seen "North by Northwest", Slim
I didn't mention that the Talking Pictures tv channel is showing "Yield to the Night" (1956) during the coming week. Not a film I've ever seen and wouldn't want to even if it's well regarded and shows that Diana Dors could act It's unrelentingly grim and about a woman awaiting her execution.
Film was directed by J Lee Thompson. His previous film also starred Diana Dors - "An Alligator Named Daisy". A minor comedy but you would prefer it.

Definitely haven't seen the second film...think I'd remember that one
