Morning troops. Seem to be unscathed but not checked outside - it's sleet. Fingers crossed.

The worry and tbh I've been through worse.

Good luck for the next few days El and stay safe

Have a good day ye all

I'm glad you're OK, Velvet. very nasty weather in your area yesterday

The weather here looks bad from tomorrow through to Wednesday, but nothing as bad as what you had Slim, Moonie and Ros also have bad weather forecast.

@Rocking Ros Rose

Can you identify what the piece of music used in this current Kuoni advert is based on.Sounds familiar and based on a choral work so you may be able to recognise it.

Nothing to help in the subtitles on that clip, and the television advert has no subtitles attached.

I've tracked down where that music has been based on. I had a feeling that it was from a requiem and it is. Based (very loosely) on the Lacrimosa part of Mozart's Requiem:

Good morning everyone

Two bands of heavy rain forecast here today, likely to be an inch of rain. Gusty winds. The Spanish equivalent of the Met Office have named this Storm Herminia. Not expected to be as bad as Storm Éowyn.

I hope everyone has a good day

Slim, little new of interest on the Talking Pictures tv channel during the coming week. There's a 1947 British film called "The Mark of Cain" on this afternoon and again on Tuesday afternoon. A dark drama starring Eric Portman, Patrick Holt and Sally Gray. As the title indicates, there's two brothers and a murder but this isn't a retelling of the biblical story of Cain and Abel.
The script was co-written by Christianna Brand. She wrote the Nurse Matilda books from which the two films were based on. She also wrote "Green for Danger" filmed in 1946 (Alastair Sim and also has Sally Gray in). I've mentioned that film before and, it's getting another showing on Talking Pictures this afternoon.

The Met Office warnings map has rather a lot of yellow warnings today, 2 rain ones and 3 wind ones covering the south, and 1 for wind further north. Looks rather confusing.

First band of rain has set in here.

Good morning everyone

Very unsettled weather here today and tomorrow. Low pressure around 980 millibars until tomorrow evening. Pressure below 1000 is low (lowest here in recent years was 962). Pressure above 1000 is high (highest here in recent years 1053)

No weather warnings in my area though there's a wind one to the south of here.

Slim, I hope your very bad weather isn't causing problems for you

I hope everyone has a good day

I watched "The Mark of Cain" yesterday evening, watchable if somewhat melodramatic. I noticed that it was directed by Brian Desmond Hurst. Although not that well known a director, there is one film of his which is one of the most loved British films ever made. The only only clue you need is Alastair Sim.
