Film on BBC Two tomorrow afternoon includes actors from the "St Trinian" films, "Doctor Dolittle" (1967), the "Mission Impossible" tv series, the original "Planet of the Apes" film series, "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" (1969) and the two "Cocoon" films.
"Cleopatra" (1963) massive film in scope and length and, at the time, the most expensive film made. Version being shown is nearly 4 hours long.
I've seen it once. Once was enough for me

One interesting bit of trivia I spotted on the imdb relates to the directors. Rouben Mamoulian started the film but was fired by the producers (or resigned) after a few weeks. Eventually Joseph L Mankiewicz  took over. Before he took over the producers approached Alfred Hitchcock but he refused and made "The Birds" instead. Sensible man

Sunshine & bright blue skies here atm El... ...but ditto the rain forecast

Take care folks!

And there's the remnants of Hurricane Kirk which may affect us next week. Not yet known if it will, possibly Wednesday/Thursday, possibly the areas which got the heavy rain last month, but may not affect us at all. Won't be a hurricane though if it does get here and if it does might be called Storm Kirk.

Slim, I haven't spotted anything new worth watching on the Talking Pictures tv channel during the coming week. There's a British crime film called "The Challenge" (1960) very early on Wednesday morning which is a bit of a curiosity as it has Jayne Mansfield as the boss of a criminal gang.
Mansfield was better known as a lesser Marilyn Monroe. Incidentally Marilyn Monroe is in "River of No Return" (1954) tomorrow morning on Film4 (also Robert Mitchum and Rory Calhoun) Adventure film/ western/ musical.

Good morning everyone

Cloudy here, showers forecast which could be heavy.

Latest Met Office and BBC rain maps are showing the remnants of Hurricane Kirk going over France rather than here in a few days time though that may change.

I hope everyone has a good day

Have had the light on all day here El it's been so overcast...with lots of heavy rain
Thankfully the wind has died down...as you say. France has now got them...Good!

An ice cream van stopped outside a few minutes ago and a woman from a nearby house went to it and had quite a long chat with the ice cream man, they must know each other. After a while she went away with quite a large ice cream. To give you an idea, here's a Youtube clip of someone who bought one of a similar size:

Good lord! There's no way I'd eat all that

Some people don't know the definition of comfort.

Imagine sleeping on the streets. Mad.

Morning, Velvet

I remember the time I was working in London back in the 1970s and walked down a road going back to the hotel one evening. All along the road were homeless people sitting on the pavements at the doorways to the shops which were closed by then. I doubt if any of them were going that by choice.

I also remember the time when I was waiting for a bus as the bus station in Gloucester and had a lengthy chat with a tramp. In his case, it seemed to be a lifestyle of his choice. He seemed to be well, didn't seem to be in rags and wasn't begging for money. A bit like what W H Davies, the Welsh poet must have been like.
