Yesterday I mentioned that BBC Two were showing "The Long Hot Summer" (1958) today.
I see that they are showing "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" (1958) next Saturday morning,
The two films are of a similar nature, were released within a few months of each other and both starred Paul Newman. They were the first two films of his which brought him stardom.
Can't say that either film had any appeal for me

Not surprisingly, my local weather recording station shows that the 100 mm level of rain this month has been reached.

Rain is expected to continue until late evening here,  Looking at the Met Office rain maps I think the worst hit areas will have been elsewhere in the amber warning zone  - Aylebury for instance.

Some of Devon has been hit with flooding, but here where Dad is hasn't been too bad...
I don't need to worry about where my house is as we are near the top of a steep hill

From the time the thunderstorms arrived here on Friday afternoon, the total amount of rain which has fallen here in the 96 hours since (so 4 days) is 82mm. Average total for September for here is about 60mm = 2mm per day so the equivalent of 41 days of rain in the last 4 days.

Trivial bit of information - the Met Office regard any day as very wet if there's been 10mm or more of rain.

Good morning everyone

Cloudy day here, no rain forecast other than might be a bit of drizzle at times. No weather warnings for today,
There's a band of rain tomorrow evening. The Met Office might issue a warning for that as although much less rain than Friday or yesterday would be falling on saturated ground.

I hope everyone has a good day

Good morning everyone

Heavy rain here overnight, heavy showers forecast until early evening, then rain expected throughout the evening and early morning which is why there's a yellow warning.
The local weather recording station shows that more than double the average rainfall has already fallen this month.

I hope everyone has a good day
