My Mum has just had a letter through from the Labour Party declaring that the Libdems have screwed the country & that we should all set up a direct debit to the Labour Party , even goes so far as the give recommended amounts relating to your current income.....

Really and here was I thinking Labour screwed up the country and left us in a mess. Put it back in the mail without a stamp on and let them pay royal mail to recieve it the cheek of it.

Well if it is free post it is even better as they pay as long as you post it. You know it won't end up not being picked up from the post office due to the lack of a stamp

I think that the Mum concerned may have been a previous member or a political levy payer. Otherwise they have made a great mistake. I received the same communication and like all such letters binned it. As with some of the richer charities, once you give,they won't leave you alone.
The Labour Party, I'm afraid, still have no idea how ordinary people operate, and that's how it will remain until we get rid of the suits who arrived with Blair/mandelson.
Far better to do something practical. Get out on the streets, leaflet, and spread the message.
One of my friends worked on the Labour fundraising team for the 1997 election. He walked out when he was forced by his line manager to ask (cajole) Labour Members to increase their donations, even when the data clearly stated that some of them were elderly widows/widowers living on a basic state pension.
Hang on - the political parties get donations from the public?! WTF?

She has no interest in politics, never has.... never been a member of a political party. She is a 62 year old woman with ms .... she is having fun with the reply tho...

membership of a political party costs and each individual can choose wether or not to pay, however when it comes to the tories and their wbanker friends and business connections there is no choice - if you shop/buy their products some of the profits (your pennies!) goes to the tories
