There i was in M&S this morning looking to buy a jar of jam, and realised that right next to the jams were jars of beetroot, so a warning to Z, next time you are looking to buy jam check you're not buying beetroot by accident.

Yes, other threads (like lemon curd and digestive biscuits) have been and gone, but beetroot lives forever.

I have a problem with jars of beetroot... I start to eat them get guilty over pigging out on it and put the jar away.. When I get to it again it's changed colour so I throw it out. My composter seems to like it

my usual supplier is letting me down so as soon as stocks are replenished I shall be bulk buying - vaccum packed with a long date so should be ok for a while

still having problems getting my stock   cant have the jars so am in denial at the moment

Hiya MrsH   cant you bulk buy or have an agreement where they keep jars there for 'call-off by you ' (get a discount too - they are assured of the business you see   - shame you having to wait .   Great stuff the GLORIOUS BEET  

 I am waiting to bulk buy once they get it in - prepared though - the other option is to go to the veg wholesaler and buy 12 Kilo's which needs cooking   no discounts round here - buy it or leave it

So the posties have called off their strike for the time being in order for MrsH to start getting her supplies again.

 careful Zaph the old blood pressure could be rising there but never mind because Beetroot juice has been hailed as the new ‘super food’ after a recent study showed it can drastically reduce high blood pressure.

I've tasted mud...not deliberately... in a falling flat on face playing rugby many years ago kind of way.. I have tasted beetroot... the resemblance is uncanny

Err yes I have but don't remember it being anything like the gawjuss beetroot

I dont think even with the widest stretch of imagination buying a small vacu wrapped packet of ready cooked - ready peeled - ready to slice or have whole beetroot can have the slightest taste of MUD about it

I'd certainly rather eat straw
