I'm sure that most football fans wouldn't begrudge Beckham a knighthood. He seemed to command complete respect from our crowd, a crowd which reserved it's worst abuse for United and in particular arseholes like Hughes, Ronaldo, Keane, and co. I could never understand why Chelsea didn't get the same flak! However Terry in the last competition didn't put a foot wrong and deserves the adulation. (it really hurts to type that!)

Am I the only one who can see this? are they putting something in the water ?

Every time I see him I see david brent

Can't see it TBH. I will concentrate next time he's on my telly.

As for the knighthood - I do think he's been a good ambassador for the sport and seems to be well respected at home and abroad ......................not that I know much about football TBH.

Well, I like him and, what's more, I like Victoria as well. They're not just living for the cameras like Katie and ...any partner, fill in the blank. He was a good footballer, not the best, but good enough to stand out. He redeemed himself after that stupid kick and he is willing to be used for any publicity this country wants him for. In the meantime he does a lot for charity and is building his football schools for boys like himself. Sorry, but he does not deserve the bad press. He really does not need the publicity, so let's get real here, he's not doing it for notoriety.

Beckham and his Posh must have been put out when he wasn't chosen for team GB.  No opportunity to showcase his latest haircut or new tattoo for the celeb pages.

Posh couldn't be 'papped' in one of her own dresses with her fashion accessories children.

Pearce is a disgrace! How on Earth could he deny Team Beckham their marketing op?  Does the idiot think picking the best squad comes before brand identity and celebrity news in these Olympics?

I don't dislike them, but Jesus. don't they just love themselves!

He was an exceptional footballer in his prime but he's been farting about in MLS for the last few years and not really putting his all into that either.

I don't think he's done that much for charity and he's hardly shy about standing in the spotlight.  He's an extremely rich man.  One charity I'd like to see him  launch is a charity for the poor little bastards who get paid slave wages in places like India for stitching footballs together all day.
