And she's Miss Popular who sleeps around and can't keep a job.
That woman is so odious!!
The only time i ever heard him talk about his parents house to Bea , was when she asked him what it was like. In fairness if i had a house like that i'd want to talk about it too.
i think that she made that remark, because it makes her feel better about reducing him to an emotional wreck.
She's an ubber cow!

I noticed that as well.
I do hope people watching this don't think"Oh two posh people in the house".
No,one very educated decent man,and one mean uneducated bitch acting posh.Who can forget the gem dropped by her to David."Niagara Falls in Africa".A very poor education I guess.

I think she got expelled,so her education is somewhat lacking.

Me too but if he mentions it he would be accused of showing off .
She is utterly correct.
I don't understand the attitude of people in this thread.
It is quite evident to anybody with any life knowledge and perception skills that Freddie has led a very sheltered life. The sheltered existence would account for his naivety, social ineptness, conversation-killing interaction style, and his inability to perceive the motives and dynamics of those around him.
He is a confused, inept, vulnerable little boy who has no clue whatsoever as to how the world works.
He is so life inexperienced and socially inept he keeps trying to project himself as a hedonist and a social hub, his ummms and aarhhhss of self-satisfaction are desperate attempts at self-affirmation as part of his attempt to project this false image.
He knows deep down he is confused by people and hence he spends lots of time making observations to work out what the hell is going on.
None of Freddie's underdeveloped state justifies Bea's merciless, ruthless and repeated emotional savaging of him, which seemed to increase in savagery the more wounded he became until the point when he was suffering a near breakdown.

"I can talk in a way that would wow the socks off someone. But generally, if you're talking to everyday people, talk in an everyday way".
She really has a high opinion of herself!

Can`t disagree with that - especially last paragraph
Bea is feeding Lisa`s hatred of Freddie`s background, while trying to deflect from her own. She knows what she`s doing. Lisa`s too thick to see it.
Bea is right, but she shouldn't be handing this ammunition to the Dark Side.
I think all hope of saving form the Dark Side Bea has gone. She has metamorphasised into a member. Very sad.

I fail to see how his character is considered flawed because Bea considers him to have led a sheltered life. In comparison to what? Bea has led a sheltered life in comparison to some.
Freddie is fresh out of school, fresh out of uni where he would have been with other people of the same age and intellectual capabilities and it is true he hasn't yet become "worldy wise" or street wise or whatever was said. What's the rush? People grow at their own pace and will find a niche somewhere in life where their talents will flourish, hopefully.
I think it is wrong of Bea to give the impression that Freddie boasted about his home or life because he didn't.
Also his reaction to her softly spoken barrage, like a gun with a silencer on it, would not have been half as extreme if he hadn't been so distraught at the idea of losing a girl he was close to and who was cuddling him at night. He had feelings for her and trusted her. He can't believe what she was saying to him. I couldn't believe she was saying he was "horrible". The same word she used to describe Dave. And to finish it with she didn't want to catch anything off him was just nasty. It was unnecessary and too easy for her to do. She may as well have savaged a butterfly.

Anyone who uses the term 'negative aura' in an argument has instantly lost any credibility.
