Note that unless Zoe Ball changed her mind after the newspaper reports in May, they said that she pulled out of the filming of the final of this series due to the sudden death of her boyfriend Billy Yates. There was much media coverage of this at the time.

Awww ....I didnā€™t know about that , what a shame

This is what the Radio Times has to say about tonight's episode:

Three sets of familiar faces ā€“ including one surprise inclusion after a heat-winning family dropped out ā€“ stride into that lovely barn conversion for the first semi-final.

In what feels like a MasterChef invention test, the groups are given identical ingredients and are asked to come up with a meal. Or, as one contestant puts it, ā€œa big salady thingā€.

Thereā€™s much hilarity in the puddings round when Rosemary Shrager drops a profiterole down her bra but itā€™s not long before laughter turns to tears when disaster strikes a family during a roast dinner with a twist challenge. You might weep, too, over ZoĆ« Ballā€™s description of a roast dinner as an ā€œiconicā€ family meal.

Summary

Zoe Ball and Nadiya Hussain present the first semi-final of the competitive cooking show, which sees three of the nine remaining families returning to the kitchen. There they'll face three new culinary challenges which are judged by Rosemary Shrager and Giorgio Locatelli, with only one team going through to the final.

I wonder which family dropped out ....presumably one from the earlier series ...if , logically,  thatā€™s  how they are going  Thanks El Loro
