The first details about when Big Brother 2014 starts have been revealed today.

While Channel 5 have not yet confirmed the exact launch date, they have announced that the show will launch in the first week of June.

The likely launch date is either Thursday June 5 or Friday June 6, although it’s possible that BOTH may host a split launch similar to last year.

The new series of BBUK is set to see quite the twist of the upcoming run being named ‘Big Brother: Power Trip’.

Says Channel 5: “This year Big Brother is offering housemates the ultimate prize…Power! Whoever has the power will be able to influence, twist and control events in the house like never before in Big Brother: Power Trip.

“Big Brother: Power Trip will initiate on launch night with Emma Willis and it will dominate the house for the summer. Housemates will have to be ruthless to seize power, keep it and impose their will on the rest of the house.

“The housemates aren’t the only ones – viewers will also be given the power to manipulate housemates throughout the series.”

Meanwhile be sure to check our website tomorrow (Saturday) for a first look at this year’s BBUk house as it’s worked on ahead of launch night.

1. Luisa Zissman’s got a new job

Ex-housemate Luisa Zissman is going to be a regular feature on Bit On The Side and Bit On The Psych AND she’s going to be a roving reporter.

She’s pretty confident she’s going to be amazing and, if we’re being totally honest with ourselves, we think she’ll be pretty awesome too.

2. Big Brother is on a Power Trip

Last year it was Secrets And Lies and this time it’s Power Trip.

3. House from hell?

Producers have done away with the luxury pad that was home to Jim Davidson, Dappy and Sam Faiers earlier in the year and the next bunch of housemates will be living in what sounds like a modern-day nightmare. Think stark open spaces and sleek, clean lines.

4. It’s all sounding mega complicated

Technology is apparently at the heart of this year’s house. Big Bro’s minions will be bedding down in ‘a house that looks as though it has been transported from the future’.

5. It’s going to get messy

Everyone is going to be striving for power and Big Brother says housemates are going to have to be ruthless to keep their head above the parapet. Whoever has ‘the power’ will be able to influence, twist and control events in the house like never before, apparently. But don’t worry folks because viewers will be able to get in on the power action too. Promise.

6. The suspense is already too much

We know for a fact it’s all kicking off next month but the exact start date is still top secret. Watch this space!

I hope not, she's already been on a reality show.  I want regular Joe Bloggs people.

Being a contestant has to remain secret so if her FB has info regarding her bing a HM then sheshould lose her place .The rumour came from BBXtra who are not a legitimate source.

I disagree Video ....IMO vote to save is simply an increased money spinner for the programme makers ....and serves to keep in awful people like the guy ( whose name escapes me ) who ended up wailing away with several thousand pounds ....but who would have been evicted earlier for sure if it had been vote to evict!

VTS isn't perfect and sometimes we have to swallow some bitter pills, but it would most likely stop horrible winners like Sam, and it was thanks to VTS that gave us Aaron as winner, vote to evict would seen Aaron get evicted early and would have seen Jay or Alex winning, and no one sane wanted that. Lol

That's so true, I remember in C4 days how my eyes were opened when I did start watching live feed. The contrast to the edited show.

I've been working and also got computer issues (this is a temporary solution I'm using at the moment). But I've missed the last week. Has it been good?

The Big Brother 2014 start date has been confirmed for Thursday, June 5.

The fifteenth series of the Channel 5 show will kick off its live launch from 9PM, with this year’s show being named ‘Power Trip’.

And once again, the launch night will be split over two nights, with the second half airing on the Friday, June 6.

The BBUK live launch will air for 90 minutes with Emma Willis at the helm.

Bit On The Side, hosted by Emma together with Rylan Clark and Luisa Zissman, will follow from 10:30PM with an hour special.

Launch night will then conclude with a 30 minute live feed straight from the house until midnight.

Channel 5 hasn’t given much more info away about the Power Trip twist with the show synopsis, which reads simply: “Series which follows the lives of a group of people who have volunteered to spend several weeks in the Big Brother house, being filmed 24 hours a day, in the hope of winning a large cash prize.”

Gogglebox’s George Gilbey has been linked to the upcoming Celebrity Big Brother 2014 line up.

The 29-year-old has become a favourite on Channel 4′s hit show and now Channel 5 are reportedly keen to pinch him for CBB this summer.

According to the Daily Star newspaper today, George has been invited for talks with Big Brother bosses to agree a deal to appear on the new series.

“Ever since the new series of Gogglebox, fans have been calling on Channel 5 to grab one of them for Celebrity Big Brother,” a source claimed. “George would be the butt of all jokes, but he has the good humour to take it well.”

Channel 5 refused to comment on the rumours, although a source told the tabloid: “The line-up has not yet been finalised.”
