Detectives are being paid overtime to watch Big Brother.
The âcushiest job everâ is so Scotland Yard officers can monitor a former colleague taking part in the Channel 5 reality programme.
Dan Neal, 33, stunned Met bosses when he entered the Big Brother house last week. Until recently he was working on Operation Yewtree â the inquiry into Jimmy Savile and allegations of historic sex offences by other celebrities.
Senior officers raised fears that Mr Neal could compromise their highly sensitive investigation, prompting the programmeâs producers to agree to a five-minute delay on the âliveâ footage.
And detectives are mounting a costly round-the-clock operation to monitor the programme over the next two months, it has emerged.
Incredibly, the force is offering an inducement to watch Big Brother this weekend. Because they have been given less than 15 daysâ notice to work on a rostered rest day, officers will receive time-and-a-half overtime pay

In reference to today's front page of @dailystaruk . It turns out that Dexter was in fact one of the paparazzi that followed me and other Xfactor acts through the show. I am DISGUSTED with what the paper has insinuated . As for knowing him , I remember meeting him once which Was the night me and @lspraggan were drunkenly photographed after a night out on the show. I also find it hilarious that the paper has Insinuated we are friends? I've seen the guy twice?? He was once a photographer at a bungee jump I did, and secondly on the drunk night!!And is a very renowned pap, in the celebrity world... AND here's the link to the video to prove it

The pair were photographed together on a night out in London recently.
And they were even in touch with each other shortly before this yearâs Secrets And Lies series kicked off last week.
The news has raised questions over whether the 24-year-old celebrity promoter may be the subject of favouritism and positive editing during his time on the Channel 5 show.
A source said: âItâs a real shocker. Rylan has never spoken about this link to Dexter. Viewers will smell a rat over it.â

This goes against my better judgement, but Rylan could be playing a clever game and not showing his hand. It's very difficult to really know what lives people in the public eye lead when the cameras are not there.
According to Rylan he's only ever met Dexter twice as Dexter was part of the papperazzi mob following the Xfactor thing and some Bungee Junp thing - I think.
I'm not sure what Rylan means when he says he's 'going to take it further' Surely it's the same guy who's printing the story that's employing him on the show?
