TBH I thought it inevitable as soon as I heard that the prize fund was up to ÂĢ150,000 this year. C5 love playing with the prize fund, and if anything the biggest (and most suspicious) surprise was that they didn't play around with it at all last year when Helen won...

Nor during BB14 when Sam won,

Well, no - but they pretended to: remember Dexter and the money wall?

Vaguely! Was that when he had to choose Gina or Sophie?

That's right. The HMs up for eviction had to pick an amount from those listed on the wall representing how much they'd accept (from the ÂĢ100,000 prize fund) to be immediately evicted. Dexter chose "lucky number" ÂĢ88,800, and instead won immunity as the "least selfish" HM. As you say, he then had to pick Gina or Sophie as a "Save and Replace" deal.

Brother bosses have run out of money...

Emma Willis

The budget for Big Brother 2015 has been blown by bosses.

This year’s series ends next Thursday, a week earlier then planned, but it’s been claimed that ratings aren’t to blame.

Rather producers have simply run out of cash which is also the reason behind this week’s Cash Bomb twist.

BB2015 had originally seen the show’s biggest prize fund ever at ÂĢ150,000 but this has been more than halved to ÂĢ72,100 as things stand.

Extra costs have included keeping Time Warp housemates Helen Wood, Nikki Grahame and Brian Belo for an extra week, adding Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace to the house line up and signing celebs for the Hotel BB task.

It’s all meant that the money has run dry with seven days of the series left.

A source told The Sun newspaper today: “Bosses have had to lower the prize fund because they have run out of money with all the old stars coming back, which is why the ‘cash bomb’ task was launched.

“The show has also been cut by a week to also save money making it one of the shortest Big Brothers ever.”

At 66 days long this year’s series is the shortest for more than a decade, excluding 2011’s first run on Channel 5 which aired outside of its usual summer slot in September and November.

A spokesperson for Channel 5 didn’t comment on the money claims to the newspaper but did tease more twists ahead for the Cash Bomb theme.

Big Brother continues nightly on Channel 5 with the final next Thursday, July 16.

I bet only the ones nominated can go for it, so it will probably be Jack or Chloe that gets the money

I think the twist is additional to the eviction so that 2 go tonight - would make the figures right for final night then

wondering if this is relevant but would have thought the twist would be during live show

1.19pm: It's task time and Big Brother has the key...
