I must say at the outset that I am not a financial expert (far from it.)
I keep hearing people in banking and related business say that it is important to pay substantial bonuses in cash and/or shares as well as a very high salary. They say it is important so that we keep these clever people in this country. (Although recent events suggest to me that they are not that clever.)
But my instinct tells me this is wrong. I would say don`t pay 'em these outrageous and obscene amounts of money. I also think "Let them go then. Let them go abroad."
Because I simply cannot believe that these are the only people who could do this job.
What happens when they die - are there no clever people to take their place?
I simply do not believe they are indispensible.
I think this "pay them a lot to keep them" argument is silly.
I would say stop paying such ridiculous amounts of money, and if they don't like it simply let them go.
I cannot agree with the so-called `experts` who say we can't afford to lose them.
