Sorry I haven't read the whole thread so I don't know if these have been mentioned.

How about Caradoc (Cerideg) for a boy. It's Welsh and very traditional.
My elder son is called Davon which is apparently a Welsh name also - I named him after a friend because I liked the name. My younger son is called Austin.

For a girl you could go with something really unusual like Gwyddhien (pronounced Gwithien), Tabitha, Tamara or something really traditional like Peony or Ruby I guess.

Don't worry, I've just gone into panic mode myself. Laugh Mothercare and Babies R Us catalogues both have really useful shopping lists in them which includes categories for everything you'll need for feeding, bathing, travel, sleeping etc. I've found them really useful. I've only just started buying stuff myself. I had no idea how much stuff you have to get and I hadn't even thought about the fact that there are lead times of up to 8 weeks for some things like prams, cots and furniture.Eeker So far I've had to order my pram, car seat (they won't let you out of the hospital without that btw), a wardrobe and changing unit. I bought a Moses basket and some bedding which is on offer at M&P. I've only bought a couple of sleep suits and babygrows and I've been given quite a few things by friends too but there's still loads to get. I don't know where you're based but if you like Mamas & Papas stuff there is a small factory outlet here in Huddersfield which has M&P stuff at a fraction of the store prices. There are some pretty good sales on at the moment too. Nod It does get a bit stressful when you're trying to make decisions on the big things, especially prams Disappointed, but it's also lovely when you get to go shopping for 'pretty things'. No worries, I'm sure we'll be able to muddle through all of this together.Laugh Remind me when you're due again - I think you're about a month or so after me, isn't it early October? If it is you've got a while to go yet before the panic needs to set in. I think the trick is to try and stay rational. My impulses are telling me that I should have everything here ready for when the baby comes but realistically I won't need a cot for a few weeks because baby will be in a Moses basket, and I certainly won't 'need' the wardrobe that we've ordered for a while yet. Still, it feels nice t know we've made a start. If you haven't started looking at prams though I'd seriously get looking now. That's REALLY complicated. I swear we didn't spend as much time buying the house as we did with the pram. Eeker Laugh

Laugh I will take heed of your advice and have now got OH into a panic aswell so feel I have done a good job Big Grin Yes, I'm a few weeks later than you - 9th October - but I was speaking to my neighbour whose baby is 6 months now and he came 5 weeks early. I think well if you have to order stuff just in case it came early, I'd better start to panic now Big Grin It's difficult though isn't it cos you don't want to start too early or tempt fate but there comes a point where you just have to get going. Thanks for advice - starting to look at prams now!!! Big Grin It is nice to have somebody whose going through it all at the same time too Nod

I would love to help but I am in the same situation with my daughters name, took me a week to decide on a first name, she is now 16 days old and still not decided on middle name.

It fries my brain thinking on what to call her. Will she like it when she is older etc.

Im no good at choosing names, my poor dogs had 6 names each before I decided on theirs lol

Lol! Have you got a shortlist of middle names? I think Marni Louise and Marni Carys are both pretty, but then I like traditional names. It's hard isn't it?! Disappointed

My friends just had a Ned.Shes also got Evelyn and Constance which I think are lovely.

With mine I wanted names common enough to be recognised, but unusual enough that there werent ten on the register!!
M
Emily and Elizabeth are both traditional and pretty names as well as still being 'modern'.

I also like Matthew, David and Mark for boys names. They are more modern than some of the suggestions made.

I agree with some of Pol Pots views, some names are laughable, imo, and may lead to the child being teased and bullied in later life. What sounds 'cute' for a baby may not necessarily sound 'right' on a teenager when fitting in with peers is important.

I like the name Freddie, it's on my favourites list. Sorry to say this, but I think Lohan is awful. That's the trouble with picking names, everyone has differing ideas of what's good and bad.

You're entitled to your opnion but I think that Ezekiel as a name has been round for a while now and we just didn't fancy the full version. It's hardly worthy of being on the 'dreadful' register.
