How come those names? Are there any particular reasons for them? Where did you get them?

I used to babysit for a little boy called Malakai 23 years ago and the name Dante is just different and lovely.

I am currently in LOVE with these two twins my friends have. They are 8. Their dad is Indian and their mum is English. Their colouring is mesmerising. They have skin the colour of caramacs and jet black hair. But with the lightest most piercing light green eyes you have ever seen. Team all that with perfect faces!!!! The little boy in particular already looks like a model. They are called

Whatever you like, but no shortened/pet versions of real names, PLEASE!

When he or she is older, he or she will decide for him/herself whether she wants to be known as Ellie, Charlie, Libby, Jake, etc.

Or he/she might prefer the real version - Eleanor, Charles, Elizabeth, Jacob, etc.

I feel so sorry for kids who are saddled with "cute" abbreviations of real names that might be sweet on a baby, but they are then stuck with them forever!

Nod totally agree, I called one of my sons Ian, just so it couldn't be shortened, then blow me down years later, his mates started calling him Ee! Roll Eyes Big Grin

I also knew someone who called their baby Patrick, just so they could give him the nickname paddy! Shake Head Crazy

Nod Laugh
But at least Paddy can decide for himself when he's older whether he still wants to be called it.
