Yes. If you`re unsure about what to do Meaty, my advice is to call the RSPB. They come out really quickly to help, in my area anyway.

I saw a bird and her fledglings trapped in an odd setting in graveyard, having fallen out of a tree. I phoned, they were there within an hour and saved them.

Baby birds often stay on the ground for a few days until all of their feathers develop, before flying off. Check out the RSPB link I posted ^^^^^.

This number is for their head office in Sandy, Bedfordshire - Tel: 01767 680551

Yes Yogi blackbirds do but those look too young for that they are usually fully feathered though not able to fly for a couple of weeks.Magpies will be a danger too alas.

Katty, I must admit, the baby birds in Meaty's pic, don't look ready to fledge. I would expect fledgelings to have more feathers than those birds.

Hopefully their mother will return and take care of them.

PICK them up and put them back in the nest or if the nest is broken put the broken bits of the nest then place it all back in the hanging basket and hang it up where the original nest was.

I had this exact same problem last year and thats what the rsbp said i should do, birds are not in any way put off their young by human smell, unlike mammals.

FM

Pick up said rogue baby blackbird

Did do smack its botty *smack smack smack*

Waggle norty finger at its beak

Return to nest with note to parents that Soc Serv will be notified if it happens again

Go check your car keys are still there . . .
