read about this - they are suing the vet apparently
so the nurse gets the blame I take it the vet is too important to check they've got the right cat
feel very sorry for the couple

Too right too....apparently the veterinary nurse simply picked up the wrong cat! OMG!

Agree Pengy..
lets blame the nurse. Bet she gets sacked, when, as you say, the vet is just as responsibleïŧŋ
OMG that doesn't bear thinking about !
I know Gypsie. Puts me in mind of that man who went into hospital to have a knackered kidney removed... and they removed the HEALTHY one.... He died a few weeks later

awful and devastating about the cats
I know Rosgirl.. It really is sad ..
Wrekin View Vets refused to comment but the owner said they had now given her two new kittens!!
WTF! So that makes it alright then, because of us who have loved our non human family members know that you can easily replace them with any old animal
This whole story smells fishy to me. The stuff about the leg condition and needing to be put down. I wonder if they had already put the kitten down by mistake or it had got badly injured in some other way and they then phoned the owner with that bad leg story and got them to agree to it being put down.
Very strange goings on
Ok I've just re-read it and the owners say that the kitten did have a bad leg when it was taken in. But putting a kitten to sleep for a 'bad leg' still seems strange to me.
OMG Veggie, the more I think about this and the more of your posts I read, the more I think you could be right. It's all very odd...And yes, as IF getting new cats could make it up.
Thing is Sparkles, medical/operation accidents happen at Vets just like with humans.
My sister's old dog had testicular cancer when he was 13 and had to be operated on. The tube they put down his throat for the anasthetic caused his windpipe to collapse. He did recover and lived for another 6 years after but he sounded like he had whooping cough at times and at other times like he'd been one of those smoking beagles.
The thing that got me was that he had to have meds after for all of those 6 years and my sister had to pay for them. I know it was an accident but as a sign of good faith the vets could have waived the charges for those meds.
Especially as my sister was a really good customer with all the rabbits, hamsters, dogs etc etc that she had
OMG what a terrible tragedy, and I agree with veggieburger that it sounds a bit suspect.
And that is also a shame about your sister's dog veggieburger. the vet should surely have been accountable for this!
They charge such astronomical fees don't they? I know that they work hard for their degree and are talented people, but the vet prices are extotiornate (Like dentists!)
That is why, when some people have sick pets and they havent got them insured, they abandon them. We have insurance on ours. Some people cannot afford it though. The PDSA is helpful, but you have to be on certain benefits to qualify.
