Is it just me or does the majority of people's avatars seem to be missing? All I'm seeing is a rectangle with a red X in the top left corner.

Maybe check out the help thread, some folk are having problems.I see them fine ,my browser is Firefox.
I can see them fine ... It does appear to be a browser problem ... most likely with IE again ... I'm using Google chrome
It's not my browser. My browser is just fine.

Out of interest are you using IE ...? It may be fine for other sites, but it's creating all sorts of problems here ...

It doesn't mean your browser is broken, just that it's not showing the pics.
You should really have another browser than IE anyway, everyone should. IE is full of holes and basically....rubbish.

This webpage has over 100 errors according to the official W3 web standards validator. I think the problem here is the sloppy coding of this website rather than my browser.

I can see all the avatars btw.
I can see all the avatars btw.
Shouldn't need to change browsers, I've used loads of different forums without any problems. I ain't changing browsers everytime I want to log in here.
Some don't show up if I use IE, they all show up with google chrome
Can you see mine
I can't see any on my Lappy, I'm using IE, though I use firefox at work and i can see them just fine...
Sorry - if I can see avatars in other forums, like Tigi said I shouldn't have to change my browser to view them here.
I tried Firefox once- I hated it - therefore I stick with IE.
It's a bit much that a forum can't display the pics on all browsers.
Anyway, why do I see some avatars and not others? Surely they would all not work?

Changing from IE to Google Chrome has made this run better, for me anyway

Thank you Tigi, that is precisely my point. We shouldn't need to change our browsers. Sure, some might prefer FF to IE, or GC to FF etc etc etc, but a lot of us are happy using IE. In fact over 50% of all internet users prefer IE to other browsers.

It's a bit odd.. I can see all the avatars/ smileys on other parts of the site, it's just gaga that's gone a bit wonky for me! This might sound a bit odd, but it works ( thanks to growly for this!) - if you click on the red cross box it'll take you to the poster's profile page.. hit the back button and as if by magic you'll get their avi on here!
that DID work, slinky - thanks - but will I always get to see them now or will they disappear every time I go to another thread/log off?

I think that high percentage has a lot to do with IE coming bundled with any Microsoft Operating System and many people just default to using it rather than having the desire or capability to go out and get FF or Chrome. I don't think it indicates a 'preference' as such.I would, however, agree about the w3c errors. I just ran it too and a lot of the errors are trivial but, as they are errors, the way they are dealt with by the different browsers may well vary depending on how these various exceptions are treated

I had to install Mozilla Firefox even to get onto the old forum ..... With Internet Explorer I couldn't even access any of the old GaGajoyjoy forum Works fine with MF though
We have both IE & MF on the desktop now so we can use either
I'm not having a problem. I'm using Firefox
I'm using IE latest version, and I see some, not others. Have no intention of changing or adding a browser when the one I've got works okay on other sites I visit. Surely, if you can see some avatars, you should be able to see them all? What code makes it so that some you see, some you don't?
As IE is the most used browser, surely this site should cater for them?
Not moaning, just commenting!

And I agree with you. It's my only complaint about here really.
