Apparently with the massive solar storm taking place there's an highly increased chance of seeing the Aurora Borealis tonight. So if you have clear skies, get out and have a look for it. I'm just about to take the dweebs out on a car ride to somewhere very dark to see if we can spot it.

With the KP level for the Aurora estimated at 5.67 that rules me out of seeing it - my KP level is 9.

There is a simple index called Kp, a number from 0 to 9, which is used to refer to geomagnetic activity for a 3-hour period.
I googled.
Went for a drive up to Bolam Lake near Belsay less light pollution up there (about 20 minutes drive away). Took a wrong turn on the way home ended up in Scots Gap 
Decided to turn around, finally managed to happen upon Morpeth, ended up going around the town centre twice because of a temporary one way system, then finally got on the right road to take me back to the A1. Two hours later made it home.
Saw nothing of the Aurora, but had an adventure
