Dunno, but I did walk the length of Sarfend Pier once, if that helps.
And got drenched at a footie match at Roots Hall in the rain.

When do you think the fish that swim the rivers or seas realise this, do they have to have a visa to go any further or are they turned back straight away by Fish Immigration Control

Hi Bov mate
lol spooky I stayed over this weekend gone at southend on sea pmsl we came out of a pub and I said to my friend "mmmm I can smell seafood" to which she replied "it's not seafood...it's the sea that you can smell.." lmao...i'm such a land-locked land-lubber
so I guess even though it is an estuary technically...it does smell like the sea!
hey Bov..well done the Toon eh?! I see 'smudge' hasn't lost any of his 'feistyness' !

Salmon do. That's how they come back from the sea to spawn in the rivers where they were born.

They swim 'up' river don't they or something? (my late Dad would be ashamed of me, he loved fishing (never ate the fish he caught btw ) so I really have rods worth thousands in my shed - he always bought he latest gear/rods/reels etc and had stuff imported, it was his only joy until emphysema killed him. No one here fishes.
They are born in rivers, but then migrate to the sea to mature. Then when they're ready to breed, they swim back up to the river where they hatched, to start the process again.

Yeah but salmon are like the kings and queens of the fish word, they can go anywhere

Most of 'em drop dead with the effort though. They don't handle the switch from salty to fresh very well, and only live long enough to breed.

That's it! Thanks Deman! (from a Swansea person who wants a Cardiff accent - love it! I'm not common Swansea btw) any how back to water and fish...

No it's sort of Welsh/Bristol-ish imo as they flatten their vowels. (I am not responsible for this thread digressing btw!).

omg pmsl lol - now you put it like that - that does sound a bit dodgy but yes...it did work
We also went to a fish & chip shop - I was thinking it being on the 'coast' (alright, alright - it's an estuary pmsl) the fish maybe were fresher...I chose a particular fish from a blackboard..I couldnt read the hand-writing..it was 'rock' something....it turned out to be 'rock-eel' pmsl I had never heard of it before...and it tasted revolting...i was eating 'eel'

Cardiffians sound nothing like Bristolians.
Brizzle accent always makes me laugh, because they add an "L" onto the end of words that should end in a vowel.
"That's a brilliant ideal - are you from this areal?"

Yeah and I love the 'posh' version but the Cardiff does meld at times too imo. (I have studied linguistics and my friend is Prof Rob Penhallurick (books available on Amazon if you want).
