No.  Did they issue a warning before the programme started?

I just caught the bit before and his interview and then bit after - it was all quite quick. There was a black chap sat next to Farage who made an interesting point about the word "racist".

As I type this that Farage person is speaking on Andrew Carr..

GJ . But that is actually quite an interesting point Olly made...and it made me ponder.  I'm not sure I would think of UKIP as a Labour spin off ,  but I wonder what the party breakdown was of those that voted UKIP ? When I was watching the results come in it certainly appeared as if they made equal gains in Tory , Liberal and hardcore Labour areas. And while I can't say I've given it much thought before ( and I stand to be corrected ), weren't the main BNP gains in previous elections in effectively * Labour heartlands* * waits for GJ's paint brush to hit the  opposite wall *

Yeah spin off was probably the wrong word. .I meant they strike me more as Labour types than Tory types

They do tend to take more votes from the Tories because they appeal to Tory values more.  Many, many Tory voters would like the idea of a Tory/Ukip pact.  Much more so than the present coalition arrangement.

A Labour/Ukip pact is a non-starter because Ukip hold fundamentally Tory values on most social and economic issues.  Farage would find lots of natural allies in the Tory party but virtually none in the Labour Party.

From my point of view, Ukip's position on immigration and Europe are not the things with which I have major problems.  Immigration should be cut and I am not wholly convinced that the EU is good for the country.  I'd vote to stay in the EU but only just.  I don't like the way they talk up and exploit racial tension and we should offer asylum when the need is justified.  Mostly it's the economic and social policies.

BIB: Well I am a Tory voter and that is the last thing I would want

I am with you on the last paragraph tho, we need some control, we are nearly bursting at the seams.. .and am not convinced the EU in its current format is that good for us either

I've just watched it, it was Trevor Phillips and he made the point that if you even complain about, say, the behaviour of some Mexicans nowadays you are called racist.  That it has dragged the word into a name calling insult for anything you might disagree with.

I could not remember fully the conversation as it was short and I was doing my usual two things at once thing. Thanks for re-watching and posting Squiggle.

I have never seen anyone say that ever.... I will however personally call someone racist if they single out a specific Country, Ethnicity, colour or any type of group of people whilst having an immigration debate...

Totally agree.  I used to rate Paddy Ashdown as a decent and principled politician.  Not any more.  Like Clegg's lot, he's gone native and is totally self serving.

David Cameron 'Warns UK Could Leave EU' Over Jean-Claude Juncker Appointment

I heard that earlier too ....I'll believe it when I see it

Cameron isn't going to endear himself to the Ukip voting disaffected Tories with this kind of foot stamping, bluster.

We better not leave the EU because Cameron wants to appease the Ukip brigade either.  We can't make major decisions just to save Cameron's worthless neck.  A proper debate is needed rather than Cameron playing to the Ukip gallery by throwing his toys out of his pram on some lame pretext.

He'll fall flat on his face.  There may be a half compromise, Cameron will put his toys back in his pram and claim it as a resounding victory, but I doubt it will impress many who've switched to Ukip.

(We all remember the answer to that one, see also embarrassing relations)

I don't have any dustbins on m'phone so am unable to delete! Not an issue though. I will have to be more careful in future, and post with my readers rather than m'varifocals. I wonder if my mum received a text developing my views on Karlo, bread and circuses, laissez faire market economies, right wing agenda setting for the lazy masses, and Cameron's admirable views on UKIP?
Garage Joe

I don't believe it is racism any more although it obviously still exists as a bigoted hatred of skin colour.

I think generally people are sick to the back teeth of people arriving on our shores and being given housing, benefits, and health care at our expense.

Add to that councils being too afraid to put up Christmas trees or have nativity plays in case any muslims object.

The councils should stand their ground.

Live and let live I say.

What happened to "when in Rome?"

If we visit Saudi Arabia we know alcohol is outlawed for example.

Try building a pub over there.

Or a Catholic / C of E cathedral.

They'd shoot you on the spot.....
